Doing History the (W)right Way
This article argues that Wright’s historical method is neither modern nor postmodern though it does contain elements that are found in each. In it I assess Wright’s method in light of critique from Carey Newman on the one hand and Brian Walsh and Richard Middleton on the other. Improving the reliability of microprobe-based analyses of andesitic glasses for tephra correlation
Andesite tephras have not been used in tephrostratigraphic studies to the same extent as rhyolitic units because they are seen as being chemically more complex than the latter. The goals of the two studies reported here were to examine the nature of sibling typologies and to describe a new measure designed to classify the type of sibling relationship. In the first study, participants ( N = 172) ranging in age from 18 to 65 years described their current sibling relationships using a new measure (Sibling Type Questionnaire; STQ). Sibling relationships in early adulthood
This investigation attempted to classify adult sibling relationships into a small number of discrete types and to describe those sibling relationship types in terms of the relative warmth, conflict, and rivalry experienced by members of the sibling dyad. This project examined the impact of extended family organizational patterns on adolescents' perceptions of their social networks. The sample was 13- to 15-year-old Zimbabwean adolescents residing in traditional extended families and modified extended families (N = 128). The focus of this project was a cross-cultural examination of adolescents' perceptions of their social support networks. Climate of the last glaciation in New Zealand, based on aerosolic quartz influx in an andesitic terrain
On western North Island, New Zealand, a record of climatic change during the last glaciation is preserved in a terrestrial coverbed sequence of dominantly andesitic provenance. Here, a succession of five loess-like Andisol units postdates the global high sea-level stand of oxygen isotope substage 5e (<125,000 yr). 185 men and women representing five developmental ages ranging from younger to older adulthood (17 to 96 yr) completed several measures to assess the amount and origins of most meaningful events in a person's life.
