Navajo Ceremonial Gaps and Individual Selfhood
The traditional Navajo wedding ceremony is examined. The ritual includes the depiction of a sample mandala and the welding of the couple into a unitary selfhood. The design on the wedding basket involves mandalas with ceremonial gaps.
