Notre-Dame de Paris as a validation case to improve fire safety modelling in historic buildings
The analysis of the thermal damages in Notre-Dame de Paris is necessary to estimate the impact of the dramatic 2019 fire on the remaining structure prior to reconstruction. In doing so, the large amount of data being generated creates a benchmark environment to test the relevance of numerical fire models in the unconventional configuration of a medieval roof. Objective This article examines the effects of southern culture on the attitudes and political predisposition of southern African Americans. Method Using unique survey data, with large oversamples of African Americans, this article explores whether southern blacks have a more positive opinion of the American system than African Americans who reside outside the south. This study examined local politics, economics, and other factors contributing to the results of 1987and 1992 tax elections in a Louisiana city-parish. The purpose of the study was to explain conditions of voter support for millages to fund educational and community enhancement programs in the city of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge parish. Representation, Swing, and Bias in U.S. Presidential Elections, 1872-1988
In this paper we extend the research program on the seats-votes relationship to the U.S. electoral college. Borrowing liberally from the work of King and Browning (1987), we develop measures of representational form and partisan bias in the relationship between popular vote proportions and electoral vote proportions for each presidential election from 1872 to 1988.
