This Rejoinder to the comments in the Symposium on my Article focuses on the nature of emotion in general; on specific emotions, notably anger, enthusiasm, and love; and on the relation between emotions and rationality. The article aims at contributing to the unification of history and psychology by studying the expressions of anger and enthusiasm in several historical contexts.
