  • Physically Inactive Undergraduate Students Exhibit More Symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, and Poor Quality of Life than Physically Active Students

Open Access•Endrew Eduardo Santos de Santana, Lucas Melo Neves et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

The findings suggest that undergraduate students who do not meet WHO guidelines for physical activity display higher scores of anxiety, depression, and poor quality of life in comparison with their counterparts meeting physical activity guidelines. Collectively, these data suggest the need for academic institutions and policy makers to monitor and promote in-campus interventions to encourage physical activity

  • Increased Prolonged Sitting in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis during the Covid-19 Pandemic

Open Access•Ana Jéssica Pinto, Diego Augusto Nunes Rezende et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Imposed social distancing measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak were associated with decreased physical activity and increased prolonged sedentary behavior, but did not change clinical symptoms sitting among patients with rheumatoid arthritis

  • Exercise training and DNA methylation profile in post-bariatric women

Open Access•Carolina Ferreira Nicoletti, Hamilton Roschel et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2023

Exercise training and bariatric surgery have been shown to independently modulate DNA methylation profile in clusters of genes related to metabolic and inflammatory pathways. This study aimed to investigate the effects of a 6-month exercise training program on DNA methylation profile in women who underwent bariatric surgery. In this exploratory, quasi-experimental study, we analyzed DNA methylation levels by array technology in eleven women who u…

  • Creatine O'Clock

    Open Access•Darren G Candow, Scott C Forbe et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2022•Referencias: 46

It is well-established that creatine supplementation augments the gains in muscle mass and performance during periods of resistance training. However, whether the timing of creatine ingestion influences these physical and physiological adaptations is unclear. Muscle contractions increase blood flow and possibly creatine transport kinetics which has led some to speculate that creatine in close proximity to resistance training sessions may lead to …

  • Benefits of Home-Based Exercise Training Following Critical Sars-CoV-2 Infection

Open Access•Igor Longobardi, Danilo Marcelo Leite Do Prado et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2022•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 32

In the current scenario, in which an elevated number of COVID-19 survivors present with severe physical deconditioning, exercise intolerance, persistent symptoms, and other post-acute consequences, effective rehabilitation strategies are of utmost relevance. In this study, we report for the first time the effect of home-based exercise training (HBET) in a survivor patient from critical COVID-19 illness. A 67-year-old woman who had critical COVID-…

  • Social isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic can increase physical inactivity and the global burden of cardiovascular disease

Tiago Peçanha, Karla Fabiana Goessler et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physiology-Hear…•2020

Emerging data indicate a substantial decrease in global physical activity levels during the period of social isolation adopted worldwide to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Confinement-induced decreases in physical activity levels and increases in sedentary behavior may provoke a rapid deterioration of cardiovascular health and premature deaths among populations with increased cardiovascular risk. Even short-term (1–…
