The aim of this article is to investigate and theorise practices of appropriation from indigenous cultures among interior and accessories designers in Misiones province, northeast Argentina. This study starts from a paradox. What motivates artists in a nation largely made up of descendants of European immigrants to occupy themselves with indigenous art, both of their own country and of other parts of Latin America?
