Another Perspective on Clinical Judgment
This study transformed the clinical versus actuarial controversy into an analysis of rule-of-thumb versus statistical decision-making strategies. Note on Increase of Social Interaction of Mental Patients during a Camp Trip
Use of a camping trip in the mountains as a therapeutic tool to increase social interaction of 25 mental patients was explored. Analysis of social interactions using the Bales interaction matrix indicated a significant increase from the first day to the last one. This suggests camping trips might be an effective means of increasing social interaction, but problems of structure, optimal length and lasting effects need assessment
Comparison of Columbia Mental Maturity Scale, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, and Slosson Intelligence Test with Mentally Retarded Children
This study investigated the relationships among the Columbia, Peabody, and Slosson. The Slosson showed signs of becoming a legitimate substitute for the other intelligence tests, while the Columbia yielded erratic results for the mentally retarded Ss tested in this study
Note on the Use of the Slosson Intelligence Test with Mentally Retarded Residents
The Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT) was given to 122 male and female profoundly and severely mentally retarded residents of an institution who had previously been given a Stanford-Binet, Kuhlmann Extension of the Binet Test or Kuhlmann Test of Mental Development. A correlation of .91 was found between scores on the SIT and the Kuhlmann, indicating the SIT as a useful test to use with severely retarded persons
