Cyclical reflection on physical education instruction influences on pre-service teachers’ critical transformation
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that pre-service teachers’ (PSTs’) critical reflection on professional physical education develops through structured experiential learning approaches. This quasi-experimental study involved two groups of PSTs: a teacher-directed group (n = 39) engaged in traditional reciprocal instruction activities, and an experimental group (n = 104) participating in contextualised cooperative physical education chal…
Concern for Mianzi and Social‐Behavioral and School Adjustment Among Chinese Adolescents
INTRODUCTION: Seeking social approval and recognition is a major driving force for adolescents to engage in social interactions. Mianzi ("" in Chinese) is an indigenous concept related to the social perception of one's prestige or admiration. The goal of this 2-year longitudinal study was to examine the moderating role of social preference in the relations between self-reported concern for mianzi and adjustment in Chinese adolescents. METHODS: Pa…
Developmental trajectories and predictive factors of foreign language classroom anxiety among university students
Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety (FLCA) is a common emotional barrier in second language learning, yet its developmental course is not well understood. This study aimed to identify longitudinal trajectories of FLCA and their predictors among university students. A three-wave survey was conducted with 610 undergraduates over one year, and latent growth mixture modeling was used to capture heterogeneous patterns. Multinomial logistic regression e…
A Cross‐Cultural Study of Different Types of Shyness
Previous studies have shown that the expression of childhood shyness varies across Western and Eastern cultures. This study examined whether two East Asian subtypes of shyness (anxious and regulated) existed in both a Western and East Asian context; and if so, whether there were differences in the relation between these two subtypes and children's internalizing and externalizing behaviors across country. Participants were children aged 8–10 years…

The joint role of childhood emotional abuse and bullying victimization in the development of adolescent depressive symptoms
