L'A. examine la triglossie arabe au Maroc (arabe marocain, arabe marocain moyen, arabe litteraire) et sa relation avec le francais et le berbere. Selon lui, bien que le nationalisme et les progres de l'education aient contribue a combler l'ecart entre l'arabe marocain et l'arabe litteraire, l'analphabetisme et l'ideologie conservatrice constituent les obstacles majeurs face a de tels changements linguistiques. La situation de triglossie a des repercussions negatives dans le champ de l'education et elle entraine un gaspillage d'energie, de temps et d'argent
