In a highly technologized world not only telephones but communications generally are a dense subject. Can we assume that the communications media as they have evolved under capitalism can become, once they fall under the control of a socialist government or socialist intention, an instantly effective means of building socialist consciousness? Can the old content be transformed and the medium itself (in technological and stylistic senses) remain untouched? Is total transformation of content really possible or even desirable at the beginning of a gradual cultural revolution
