In this article I critically examine the gender dysphoria category published in the Diagnos-tic and Statistical Manual (DSM 5) produced by the American Psychiatric Association in 2013. I analyze the dominant discourses about sexuality in the patriarchal, binary and heteronormative societies and the different effects these have on the production of gen-der dysphoria category. I argue that gender identities are socially constructed, not biolog-ical or naturally determined, and that those constructions have effects on how people ex-perience their subjectivity. I analyzed the imperceptible link between the transgression of the sexual dominant rules and the pyschopathologization of transsexuality. I conclude proposing the idea that identities, including transsexuality, are fluids and polymorphous.
