  • The effects of hybridization on growth allometry and craniofacial form in Sulawesi macaques

    Open Access•M A Schillaci, Jeffery W Froehlich et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•2005•Cited by: 9•References: 80

  • Field methodology for lateral cranial radiography of nonhuman primates

    M A Schillaci, Lisa Jones-Engel et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2001

The historical lack of field-based radiographic studies of nonhuman primates within the field of anthropology is likely due to the perceived difficulty of transporting and operating X-ray equipment. Here we present a method for taking lateral cranial radiographs of nonhuman primates in the field that is simple to employ, and that produces exposed films suitable for collection of measurement data useful for growth and development studies, as well …

  • Introduction to the Primates (review)

    Jeffery W Froehlich•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2001

When I first began teaching an integrated introductory primatology course in 1973, I was fortunate to use as a text Wilfred LeGros Clark's excellent book, The Antecedents of Man. It was inclusive, elementary, and inexpensive. Along with the new behavioral works of the previous decade, it could be used as a conceptual foundation for a course that covered basic primate biology and the recent discoveries in both primate behavior and paleontology. So…

  • Nonhuman primate hybridization and the taxonomic status of Neanderthals

    Open Access•M A Schillaci, Jeffery W Froehlich•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2001•Cited by: 12•References: 34

The present study examines the taxonomic status of Middle Paleolithic Neanderthals by comparing their observed minimum genetic divergence from Upper Paleolithic modern humans in Europe with that observed between macaque species from Sulawesi that are known to hybridize and fully intergrade in the wild. The genetic divergence, and differentiation between Neanderthals and Upper Paleolithic modern humans, as indicated by pairwise minimum genetic dis…

  • Primate sexual swellings as coevolved signal systems

    Open Access•Robert R Stallmann, Jeffery W Froehlich•ARTICLE•Primates•2000

  • Fossil Primates from New Mexico and the Early Adaptive Radiation of the Adapidae

Spencer G Luca, Spencer G Lucas et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Anthropological Research•1989•Cited by: 1

  • Seasonal and age-related differential mortality by sex in the Mantled Howler monkey,Alouatta palliata

    Open Access•Jeffrey S Otis, Jeffery W Froehlich et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1981•Cited by: 9•References: 12
