Prevalence of Mental Disorders and Healthcare Seeking Among Mozambican Adolescents in School
The objective of this study was to describe the prevalence and demographic correlates of mental disorders and healthcare-seeking behavior of adolescents in Mozambique. Trained assessors administered sociodemographic questionnaires and the Portuguese Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Children and Adolescents (MINI-KID) to adolescents in two schools in Maputo City, Mozambique to determine mental disorder diagnoses. Associations betw…

Leveraging Stakeholder Engagement and Virtual Environments to Develop a Strategy for Implementation of Adolescent Depression Services Integrated Within Primary Care Clinics of Mozambique
Psychiatric disorders are the number one cause of disability in adolescents worldwide. Yet, in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), where 90% of adolescents reside, mental health services are extremely limited, and the majority do not have access to treatment. Integration of mental health services within primary care of LMICs has been proposed as an efficient and sustainable way to close the adolescent mental health treatment gap. However, th…
Positive Mental Health in University Students and Its Relations with Psychological Vulnerability, Mental Health Literacy, and Sociodemographic Characteristics: A Descriptive Correlational Study
This study aimed to evaluate positive mental health (PMH) and its relation with sociodemographic characteristics, mental health literacy, and the psychological vulnerability scale (PVS) in Portuguese university students aged 17 to 62. A descriptive correlational study was carried out. An online survey was conducted to evaluate demographic variables, and several questionnaires were applied to evaluate positive mental health, psychological vulnerab…
Democracy and Intelligence Culture in Portugal (1974-2019): A Complex Relationship
This article addresses intelligence in the aftermath of the Portuguese so-called Carnation Revolution of 1974, which would end up in the birth of a new democratic state in April 1976. It maps all the legal transformations of intelligence in democratic Portugal and analyses the main ones, putting into evidence its historical evolution, organization, and democratic control, arguing that there are three critical moments. The birth of civilian intell…
Indigenous Disk Beads in the Southern Southwest: Contemporary, Ethnographic, Ethnohistorical, and Archaeological Evidence
Within the Phoenix Basin in southern Arizona, disk beads have long been highly valued. Remarkably, the Akimel O’Odham (i.e., Pima) and Pee Posh (i.e., Maricopa) still place great importance on them today. Similar beads were formed from shell, stone, and clay. The effort necessary to manufacture beads from these constituents varies, but beads made from different materials are often macroscopically indistinguishable. Furthermore, some raw materials…
Picturing inequities for health impact assessment: Linked electronic records, mortality and regional disparities in Portugal
Health impact assessment (HIA) focuses on minimizing inequities when studying the effects of a policy on the population’s health. Nevertheless, it is seldom simultaneously quantified, multivariate, and visually graphically comprehensible for non-statisticians. This paper aims to address that gap, assessing a policy promoting the quality of Electronic Health Records, linking hospital and primary health care data (Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Trigl…
The complexity of millennial-scale variability in southwestern Europe during MIS 11
Climatic variability of Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 11 is examined using a new high-resolution direct land—sea comparison from the SW Iberian margin Site U1385. This study, based on pollen and biomarker analyses, documents regional vegetation, terrestrial climate and sea surface temperature (SST) variability. Suborbital climate variability is revealed by a series of forest decline events suggesting repeated cooling and drying episodes in SW Iberia…

Assessing the Effect on Outcomes of Public or Private Provision of Prenatal Care in Portugal
Multistate projections by level of education for Portugal, 2011–2031
Impact of risk factors on hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, in primiparae and multiparae
The risk factors explained a high proportion of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy. Excessive weight before and during pregnancy had a very large contribution. The substantial joint effect of the risk factors suggests that interventions focusing on these risk factors should be part of pre-conceptional and pre-natal care
Climate Changes in the Western Iberian Margin During Marine Isotope Stages 15-9 (580 to 300 Ka): Suborbital Glacial variability

SP3-89 Social determinants of subfertility in women with a successful pregnancy
Introduction Socioeconomic conditions are rarely considered in the epidemiology of subfertility. Objectives Access the effect of current and past socioeconomic conditions on the occurrence of subfertility in women with a successful pregnancy. Methods Women were recruited in 2005/6 for Geração XXI, a Portuguese birth cohort. Personal interviews were conducted to collect socio-demographic and pregnancy-related data. Life-time subfertility was self-…
Adequacy of prenatal care as a major determinant of folic acid, iron, and vitamin intake during pregnancy
This study aimed to quantify the association between adequacy of prenatal care and prevalence of folic acid, iron, and multivitamin intake during pregnancy. Data were obtained on socio-demographics, prenatal care, pregnancy complications, and use of vitamin/mineral supplements for 836 women, using a postpartum interview. Associations with the use of vitamin/mineral supplements were quantified with risk ratios (RR), computed by generalized binomia…

Variability of the North Atlantic Current during the last 2000 years based on shelf bottom water and sea surface temperatures along an open ocean/shallow marine transect in western Europe
Marine localities on the west European shelf have been studied to reconstruct the nearshore palaeoceanography of the last two millennia. The sites form a transect from the Iberian margin northeastward via Scotland to western Norway and Iceland. Proxies used for palaeoclimatic reconstructions include stable isotopes, benthic and planktonic foraminfera, diatoms, dinoflagellates, as well as geochemical and sedimentological parameters. Major changes …
Climate change and coastal hydrographic response along the Atlantic Iberian margin (Tagus Prodelta and Muros Ría) during the last two millennia
The Tagus Prodelta (W Portugal) and the Muros Ría (NW Spain) are areas of high deposition rates registering high-resolution palaeoclimatic records for western Iberia. We compare the climatic conditions of the two areas over the last two millennia based on proxies of temperature (sea surface temperatures and oxygen isotopes), continental input (grain size, iron and magnetic susceptibility) and productivity (inorganic and organic carbon, carbon iso…
