  • Cognitive impairment at older ages among 8000 men and women living in Mexico City

    Open Access•Carlos González-Carballo, Pablo Kuri-Morales et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

In this population of adults aged 50-89 years from Mexico City, the prevalence of cognitive impairment was high, particularly among women. The extent to which cognitive impairment relates to health outcomes in this population needs to be investigated

  • Associations of fruit intake with adiposity and cardiometabolic biomarkers in UK Biobank

Open Access•Eirini Trichia, Fiona Maclean et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

We observed very small differences in adiposity and cardiometabolic biomarkers between those who reported high fruit consumption vs low, most of which did not persist over follow-up. Future studies on other mechanisms and detailed assessment of confounding might further elucidate the relevance of fruit to cardiovascular disease

  • RoB 2

Open Access•Jonathan Sterne, Jelena Savović et al.•ARTICLE•BMJ•2019

Assessment of risk of bias is regarded as an essential component of a systematic review on the effects of an intervention. The most commonly used tool for randomised trials is the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool. We updated the tool to respond to developments in understanding how bias arises in randomised trials, and to address user feedback on and limitations of the original tool.
