Jacquelyn Slomka, Eric A Ratliff et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2008

Anh D Ngo, Anh Ngo et al.•ARTICLE•Culture Health & Sexuality•2008

    Eric A Ratliff•ARTICLE•Canberra Anthropology•2004•Cited by: 1•References: 12

Social interaction involves performances across varied ‘stages’ of space and time, where subject-authors use narrative conventions to communicate their beliefs, identities, and desires in order to influence the opinions and behaviour of others. As participants in these performances, people consider the particular context in which these utterances occur since narratives vary according to changes in audience composition and the discursive structure…

    Eric A Ratliff•ARTICLE•Anthropology and Medicine•1999•Cited by: 7•References: 39

Research and intervention programs for AIDS prevention place people within ‘risk groups’ to target specific populations that are believed to be more prone to contract and transmit HIV and other STDs. The ‘sex worker’ is one of these convenient constructions used to label women who exchange sex for money or other material gains. Research presented in this paper examines the activities of female go‐go dancers in the Philippines and their relationsh…
