  • Predicting Digital Literacy

Open Access•Sílvia Luís, Eliana Portugal et al.•ARTICLE•Human Behavior and Emerging…•2025

Information and communication technologies have become an integral part of daily life. However, the increasing reliance on technology in both personal and professional contexts presents significant challenges. Individuals′ levels of digital literacy affect their ability to complete everyday and work‐related tasks that depend on digital tools. The present systematic review is aimed at identifying the main predictors of digital literacy and underst…

  • Consumer demand for bioplastics

Open Access•Samuel Domingos, Ana Rita Farias et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Risk Research•2025•References: 1

Bioplastics are emerging as an alternative to conventional plastics. These hold the promise of a more sustainable alternative that promotes the circular economy, while reducing dependency on fossil resources and negative environmental impacts of conventional plastics. Nevertheless, the success of bioplastics in replacing conventional plastics largely depends on consumers acceptance and demand. Here we conducted an umbrella review with the goal of…

  • Addressing climate change with behavioral science

    Open Access•Madalina Vlasceanu, Kimberly C Doell et al.•ARTICLE•Science Advances•2024

Effectively reducing climate change requires marked, global behavior change. However, it is unclear which strategies are most likely to motivate people to change their climate beliefs and behaviors. Here, we tested 11 expert-crowdsourced interventions on four climate mitigation outcomes: beliefs, policy support, information sharing intention, and an effortful tree-planting behavioral task. Across 59,440 participants from 63 countries, the interve…

  • Remote Work-Related Barriers

Open Access•Ana Rita Farias, Beatriz Rebordão et al.•ARTICLE•SAGE Open•2024

Remote work has become increasingly common due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but this has presented workers with new difficulties and barriers that may have an effect on their performance and productivity. In this paper, we explored the barriers to remote work and how a certain personality trait— grit: passion and perseverance in achieving long-term goals—could influence how workers copied with this reality. A total of 203 participants (69.5% female)…

  • Expressions of Gratitude Applied to Business

Open Access•Ana Rita Farias, Cláudia Simão et al.•ARTICLE•Human Behavior and Emerging…•2022

Online reviews are critical for businesses to thrive, but their management is not often effective. Using data from social media platforms, with more than 600 observations of public online interactions between business owners and customers, we showed that strategic management of online reviews predicts a positive increment of online reputation. Publicly expressing gratitude (Study 1) and, specifically, directing these expressions towards beneficia…

  • Observing Synchrony in Dyads

    Pedro Marques-Quinteiro, André Mata et al.•ARTICLE•Social Psychology•2019•References: 7

This research tested whether observing members of a dyad behave in synchrony influences observers’ expectations and intentions about that dyad. In four studies, participants observed a dyad move in synchrony and were asked to make inferences about them. Results suggest that interpersonal synchrony serves as a social cue, such that observers expect the members of the dyad to work well together. Moreover, synchrony makes observers more likely to wa…

  • Forecasting the duration of emotions

André Mata, Cláudia Simão et al.•ARTICLE•Emotion•2018

This research investigates the forecasts that people make about the duration of positive versus negative emotions, and tests whether these forecasts differ for self versus for others. Consistent with a motivated thinking framework, six studies show that people make optimistic, asymmetric forecasts that positive emotions will last longer than negative ones. However, for other people, wishful thinking is absent, and therefore people make less optim…

  • Impactos da formação pós-graduada dos professores em escolas portuguesas

Open Access•Ana Rita Farias, Ana Rita Faria et al.•ARTICLE•Revista Diálogo Educacional•2017
