  • We Have Advised Sex Workers to Simply Choose Other Options”—The Response of Adult Service Websites to Covid-19

    Open Access•Lilith Brouwers, Theo Herrmann•ARTICLE•Social Sciences•2020•Cited by: 8•References: 2

In-person sex work is one of the industries most directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to connect with clients, most independent sex workers use adult service websites (ASWs), whose services range from simple advertising websites to platforms with both direct and indirect governance of workers. Although ASWs do not employ sex workers, their response to the pandemic has a large impact on sex workers’ financial and physical wellbeing…

  • Grundriß eines Modells der Aktivierung von Konzepten, Wörtern und Figuren

Ralf Graf, Theo Herrmann et al.•CHAPTER•Bedeutung · Konzepte Bedeutungskonz…•1996

Gisela Harros, Theo Herrmann et al.•CHAPTER•Bedeutung · Konzepte Bedeutungskonz…•1996

Theo Herrmann, Joachim Grabowski et al.•CHAPTER•Bedeutung · Konzepte Bedeutungskonz…•1996

  • Testing the Focusing Hypothesis of the Mannheim Model of Speech Production

Open Access•Heidi Egel, Theo Herrmann et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Language and Social…•1988

Herrmann (1985) has developed a three-stage model of speech production. The three levels comprise: (1) focusing a propositional output basis, (2) selection and linearisation, and (3) encoding. In order to speak, a speaker has to turn her/his attention to those situational aspects s/he intends to talk about. Out of the set of focused elements will be selected only those appropriate for the utterance intended to be encoded next. The different proce…

  • Other-Relatedness in Language Processing

    Open Access•Carl F Graumann, Theo Herrmann•ARTICLE•Journal of Language and Social…•1988•Cited by: 1•References: 21

Addressee-orientation or, more generally, other-relatedness must be considered a basic feature of language-in-use. Nevertheless, this feature has been largely neglected in language studies, mainly in experimental psycholinguistics. This neglect was one of the reasons for the foundation of the Heidelberg/Mannheim Research Group on Language Processing in Social Context (LISCO), whose major topic is the other-relatedness of speech and of language co…

  • Requesting Rewards

    Open Access•Peter Winterhoff-Spurk, Theo Herrmann et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Language and Social…•1986•Cited by: 2•References: 28

Social psychological research on distributive justice is confined to the'how much' of reward allocation situations. This paradigm was elaborated byinvestigating verbal forms of reward claims in an experiment with 193 pupils aged 12 to 14. In so-called 'standard situations', speakers used simple 'E-requests' and speech ellipses (referred to the speaker's primary goal e.g. 'I'd like my 15 chips' or '15 chips please') to state their claims. In ambig…
