    Shu-Chi Shen, Tsai-Ching Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Museum Management and Curatorship•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 23

This research examines the impact of the voucher-based economic stimulus policy and market strategy on museum traffic during the COVID-19 pandemic in Taiwan. We apply a univariate time-series model (ARMAX) to daily-visit data of the National Palace Museums in Taiwan during 2016–2021, showing results that the consumption voucher program effectively did boost the number of visitors amid overall declines in tourists due to the lockdown. A comparison…

Our results show that older workers with poor health actually do not prefer retirement leisure that much and are more worried about retirement life. The findings suggest that older…

  • Cultural Value Shifting in Pronoun Use

    Open Access•Fang Yu, Feng Yu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cross-Cultural…•2016•Cited by: 5•References: 22

By investigating the use of first-person pronouns in nine languages using the Google Ngram Database, we examined the degree to which different cultural values skewed toward individualism or collectivism over a span of 59 years. We found that in eight of nine languages (British English being the exception), first-person singular pronouns (vs. first-person plural pronouns) have become increasingly prevalent, which in turn points to a rising sense o…

  • Do stock prices drive people crazy

Open Access•Chung-Liang Lin, Chuan Shi Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Health Policy and Planning•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 65

This is the first research to examine a potential relation between stock market volatility and mental disorders. Using data on daily incidences of mental disorders in Taiwan over 4000 days from 1998 through 2009 to assess the time-series relation between stock price movements and mental disorders, we observe that stock price fluctuation clearly affects the hospitalization of mental disorders. We find that during a 12-year follow-up period, a low …
