Strategies of sexual refusal in effervescent nightlife settings: A study of Spanish university students
A growing body of studies focuses on sexual harassment and violence in nightlife venues, primarily as it affects adolescent and adult women. In these settings, the boundary between flirtation and unwanted sexual attention easily blurs. This study examines how young women reject such attention. It draws on in-depth interviews with 53 Spanish undergraduates aged 18 to 25 from a Madrid public university. The findings unveil both individual strategie…
Exploring the efficacy of video game training in developing adolescent reasoning abilities
The benefits of video games in physical education have been extensively researched (Camunas-Vega & Alcaide-Risoto, 2020; Fang et al. 2020). However, little attention has been paid to the effectiveness of commercial video games combined with basketball practice in improving students’ reasoning skills (Chuang, Yeh, and Lin 2021; Rogers et al., 2020). In this paper, we present the results of an experimental study whose objective was to assess the ef…
Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault: A Systematic Review
Since the last two decades, the scientific community has made an effort to analyze drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA). However, a lack of understanding remains about the DFSA problem, particularly concerning the opportunistic variant. Facing this situation, a systematic review of the term DFSA is carried out from its first appearance in the scientific databases consulted (Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed) to the current day. The search resu…

Sexual Assault Myths Acceptance in University Campus: Construction and Validation of a Scale
The study related to the myths of rape has been carried out since the 1980s at different scales. However, the interaction between the acceptance of these rape myths (myths related to sexual abuse) and the nightlife scene—where alcohol consumption becomes the epicenter of this particular context—has not been specifically evaluated. In this work, a questionnaire has been developed considering different scales. It has been tested online in a populat…
Perceptions of Bullying amongst Spanish Preschool and Primary Schoolchildren with the Use of Comic Strips: Practical and Theoretical Implications
Bullying research among preschoolers and the early grades of primary school is still scarce. Results show that 94.2% (n = 113) …
Teaching between the lines’: Discussing, interpreting and writing stories together / ‘El aula entre líneas’: hablamos, interpretamos y escribimos historias conjuntamente
The purpose of our study was to carry out a writing workshop in a collaborative setting in which the teacher and the 14 year-old students made up stories while being observed by a researcher. We used a qualitative methodology similar to the Ethnography of Communication and Discourse Analysis, in which narrative and analytical analyses are seen as complementary, in order to interpret all aspects of the participants’ activities. The analysis of the…
A Bakhtinian Approach to Identity in the Context of Institutional Practices
This study deals with the construction of identity in institutional contexts, taking as a starting point a Bakhtinian approach. We focus on the idea of author and hero and consider it as a metaphor allowing us to look for new models through which to understand human learning. We consider in particular the ethical and aesthetic dimension of human activity, which relate to the concepts of 'I' and 'other', respectively, and pay special attention to …
