  • Climate Change in the Brazilian Cerrado: A Looming Threat to Terrestrial Biodiversity

    Open Access•Gabriel S Hofmann, Eliseu J Weber et al.•ARTICLE•Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews…•2025•References: 2

Over the past 5000 years, the predictable climate seasonality of the Brazilian Cerrado has played a crucial role in shaping the life history strategies of species and the structure of ecological communities of this global biodiversity hotspot. However, this biome is becoming hotter and drier, with a notable lengthening and intensification of the dry season. Declining rainfall results from three key factors: the expansion of the South Atlantic Sub…

  • Classification of precipitation anomalies in the Rio Grande do Sul in Enso events in the 20th century

    Open Access•Pedro Teixeira Valente, Denilson R Viana et al.•ARTICLE•Sociedade & natureza•2023

This study investigated the intensity and spatial distribution of precipitation anomalies in Rio Grande do Sul state (RS) during the 20th century by analyzing the influence of El Niño - Southern Oscillation (ENSO) in its three phases. Reanalyzes from the University of Delaware (V5) were used. Precipitation anomalies were divided into three zones (Campaign, Plateau, Coast) to investigate possible differences in precipitation under ENSO influence. …

  • Avaliação de desastres no Rio Grande do Sul associados a Complexos Convectivos de Mesoescala

    Open Access•Denilson R Viana, Francisco E Aquino et al.•ARTICLE•Sociedade & natureza•2009•References: 8
