This paper briefly explores some of the archaeological proposals of the first three decades of the twentieth century, highlighting the main debates regarding the exploration of Teotihuacán. It is shown that even though the discussions reveal the conflicts among characters, projects and institutions, they also offer a glimpse of the various work proposals of each actor and their different backgrounds and traditions.
