Open Access•Laura M Cisneros, Jonathan Simmons et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Education•2021

Researchers and practitioners have identified numerous outcomes of place-based environmental action (PBEA) programs at both individual and community levels (e.g., promoting positive youth development, fostering science identity, building social capital, and contributing to environmental quality improvement). In many cases, the primary audience of PBEA programs are youth, with less attention given to lifelong learners or intergenerational (e.g., y…

The association of formation for ordained ministry with residential experience still remains, in however attenuated form, a privileged assumption in the construction of clergy training programmes today - both residential and nonresidential alike. In the context ofsevere financial constraint alongside, ofcourse, the development ofnew forms ofministerial formation, this essay argues for a more nuanced and careful reflection on the propriety ofthis …

It is not dry manuals (full as these may be of unquestionable truths) that plausibly express to the world the truth of Christ's Gospel, but the existence of the saints, who have been grasped by Christ's Holy Spirit. And Christ himself foresaw no other kind of apologetics. (GL1, 494)

  • The Bank of England and the Establishment of a Branch System, 1826-1829

    Open Access•D Mo, D J Moss•ARTICLE•Journal of History•1992

The traditional interpretation of the Bank of England’s role, 1826-44, is that the Bank was not only the government’s fiscal agent and financier, but also the lender of last resort to the financial system generally. The latter function is said to have been assumed in the aftermath of a financial crisis in 1825. Then, new branches provided an opportunity for the bank's “octopus tentacles” to reach every part of business and banking. This article e…

Diverging from previous ethnographic studies of Spain that have limited themselves primarily to tiny mountain villages, Gilmore focuses on class relations and traditional culture in Fuenmayor, an Andalusian farming town of 8,000, to provide a greater understanding of complex societies. Unlike studies focused on homogeneous villages, Gilmore's study depicts a rural life characterized by class antagonism, political polorization, and occasional viol…

Contemporary reactions to the 1832 Reform Act were diverse. Concomitant with the feeling of relief that a revolution had been avoided was a fear even among some of the Bill's most earnest advocates that the whigs had perhaps gone too far. The long period of political agitation by extra-parliamentary associations suggested that a radical House of Commons might emerge from the forthcoming elections. In fact, the expected radical onslaught never rea…
