The Big Seven model: A cross-cultural replication and further exploration of the basic dimensions of natural language trait descriptors
The objective of this study was to identify the major lexical dimensions in the Hebrew language and to compare these dimensions with the Big Seven factor structure. A list of 252 trait descriptors was assembled from a Hebrew dictionary, using nonrestrictive criteria similar to those introduced by A. Tellegen and N. G. Waller (1987). The factor structure recovered from these data largely replicates the Big Seven model. In particular, 2 major evalu…
A Cross-Cultural Study of Personality with the Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire
The cross-cultural stability of the factorial structure of the Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire (MPQ) was studied by comparing Israeli and American samples. The MPQ was translated into Hebrew and administered to 583 Israeli subjects. In the United States, a comparison group of 1,644 subjects completed the 300-item instrument. Replicatory factor analyses demonstrated the factorial stability of the MPQ's primary and higher order scales ac…

Personality Correlates and Cyclicity in Positive and Negative Affect
The current study investigated over time variation of Positive and Negative Affect and the relation between mood level and personality characteristics. 68 male undergraduate volunteers completed the Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire and then recorded mood ratings daily over a 29-day period. Spectra time series analyses showed a distinct and significant seven-day cycle for Positive Affect and Negative Affect, with the peak in Negative Aff…

Survivors of the Holocaust and their children: Current status and adjustment
A group of 52 concentration camp and other survivors of World War II were compared with a control group of 29 persons of similar European and religious background. Forty-seven children of these survivors and 16 children from the comparison group were also evaluated. The psychological adjustment of both group of adults and their children was within the normal range. Cultural rather than specific survivor influences were noted in the present attitu…
