  • Mustis revisited

    Open Access•Sergio España-Chamorro•ARTICLE•Libyan Studies•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 8

English The Roman town of Mustis ( municipium Iulium Aurelium Mustitanum ) is near present-day Mest Henshir (Tunisia). Its epigraphic corpus has around 200 inscriptions mainly published at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, when the French archaeological campaigns took place. However, a group of Latin inscriptions discovered during the 1960s remained unpublished. In the reorganisation of the archives of the Institu…

  • Photogrammetry, 3D modelling and printing

    Open Access•Diego Chapinal-Heras, Carlos Díaz-Sánchez et al.•ARTICLE•Digital Applications in…•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 23

The aim of this contribution is to present the Experimenting Digital Antiquity Project undertaken at the Complutense University in 2021–2022. The initiative consisted of encouraging new teaching methodologies by creating a collection of copies of ancient finds printed with 3D technology. This required a series of carefully organised steps that can be summarised as training students in the skills needed to carry out the photogrammetry of artifacts…

  • Words in context

    Open Access•Sergio España-Chamorro•ARTICLE•Pallas•2022•References: 9

In epigraphy, the word fecit frequently appears in association with public works and infrastructures, indicating that the person associated with this verb was the investor in such facilities. We can find this word in some milestones dated from the age of Trajan, Hadrian, and Severus Alexander. The context of these inscriptions could reveal that their original meaning (‘made by’) is not correct and these cases reveal a means of propaganda using fe…

  • The Procurator Campaniae and the ‘Lands of Capua’ on Crete

    Open Access•Sergio España-Chamorro•ARTICLE•The Annual of the British School…•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 16

This paper presents a new edition of a boundary stone between Capua (on Crete) and Knossos. I identify the post of Publius Messius Campanus as procurator Campaniae rather than procurator Caesaris . The appearance of the procurator Campaniae on Crete is linked to a dispute between the colony of Capua and a private citizen called Plotius Plebeius. This new reading has several important historical consequences: first, it is the earliest attestation …

    Open Access•Sergio España-Chamorro•ARTICLE•Dialogues d histoire ancienne•2020

    Open Access•Sergio España-Chamorro•ARTICLE•Lucentum•2019

AbstractThis article presents an unp…
