Technology of computer analysis of the geometry of digital copies of sculptures for automatic image recognition (using the example of the «deer» stone from Tuva)
The article details one of the modern computer methods for extracting relief forms on 3D models of sculptures obtained via photogrammetry. The developed complex of sequential actions is aimed at automating the process of detecting images on stone surfaces, which significantly reduces labor costs compared to manual tracing and increases the required accuracy of results. The proposed method involves computer analysis of the geometry of digital copi…
Memorial complexes of ancient nomads of Inner Asia
Photogrammetry in archaeology
The article explores the utilization of technology, specifically photogrammetry, for precise documentation of objects of varying sizes and the subsequent analysis of the digital replicas produced. In the realm of archaeology, modern digital tools offer enhanced accuracy and versatility in studying artifacts, providing not only detailed but comprehensive insights into the objects under examination. While photogrammetry has become a staple in archa…
Current Documentation of Simple “Deer” Stones in Kyrgyzstan
In order to establish the western boundaries of the spread of “deer” stones, special surveys were launched in 2023 in the part of the territory of eastern Kyrgyzstan. During the shortterm work, timely documentation of ancient statues was carried out. In addition to previously known such archaeological sites, a new find has been recorded in the Kochkor Valley, which is introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The study of “deer” …
Two in one
Deer" stones on the territory of Kyrgyzstan are rare finds. This situation is due to several reasons. Special and systematic identification of such ancient statues has not yet been undertaken. Their context with well-known archaeological sites is not completely clear, although there is a connection with the eight-stone ring laying. The number of "deer" stones discovered and their design indicate that the western periphery of a large nomadic commu…
Technology of computer reconstruction of archaeological finds, similar to objects of rotation (on the Example of a Ceramic Vessel)
The article proposes the technology of computer reconstruction of the most probable form of archaeological finds, if their shape is similar to objects of rotation. Reconstruction is carried out on a virtual 3D model — a digital copy of a real object obtained by photogrammetry. For reconstruction, it is enough to have a small area of a real object with well-defined radii of curvature. The smaller the plot, the more variants of the restored forms w…
New Opportunities for the Publication Presentation of Ceramic Vessels of the Pazyryk Culture
Reviewing the publications, that reflect the finds of the Pazyryk culture ceramic vessels, and work with museum collections along with studying this category of ancient objects revealed the problem of adequate fixation and demonstration of available materials. To solve it, modern digital technologies, adapted to perform the necessary tasks, were involved. The article presents in detail the algorithm of the work performed along with the obtained r…
Pottery vessels from a collective burial in the mound of the Pazyryk Culture (Northern Altai)
In one of the barrows examined in 2007 at the site of Choburak-II (the territory of the Northern Altai), an in-trusive, and not quite ordinary, a collective burial of people was found. Accompanying burials of two horses were also recorded there and a variety of artefacts was found (a fragment of a stone grain grinder, elements of horse harness, miniature knives made of non-ferrous metal, a dagger, a chisel, a quiver hook, fragments of gold foil f…
