A Conflict-Hysteresis Three-Equation Model
This paper revisits the canonical three-equation (IS–PC–MR) framework from a heterodox and structuralist perspective. We replace the conventional expectations-augmented Phillips curve with a conflict-inflation mechanism in which wage-share claims, mark-up conventions, external-cost pressures and institutional bargaining conditions shape inflation. Hysteresis is derived from an institutional-memory channel: the inflation-stabilizing benchmark adju…
Distributive conflict in a post-Kaleckian model with two classes of workers
This article develops a post-Kaleckian model to evaluate the effects of changes in (functional and personal) income distribution on economic growth. We specifically developed an analytical model that incorporates the inherent conflict between workers and capitalists and the intra-class tensions among workers with different income levels (for both low and high incomes). The findings clarify the expected effects of these distributional variations o…

The impossible quartet in a demand led growth-supermultiplier model for a small open economy
The aim of this paper is to investigate the long run sustainability of a growth path led by multiple non-creating capacity autonomous expenditures in a demand led-supermultiplier model for a small open economy. Using two different models the results show that it is impossible to have in the same model long-term economic growth driven by the non-capacity creating component of domestic demand, exogenous income distribution, long-run balance between…
The debate about Sraffian Supermultiplier Model and the future of heterodox growth models
This paper aims to present the recent debate about Sraffian Supermultiplier Model (SSM), that gained notoriety in the academic environment after the controversy between Peter Skott (2016) and Marc Lavoie (2016, 2017) on the specification of the investment function of the Neo-Kaleckian models of income growth and distribution. Lavoie used the SSM model as an attempt to rescue the Neo-Kaleckians models of the devastating criticism made by Peter Sko…
Economic growth and structural change in a multi-sector and multilateral approach to balance-of-payments constrained growth
This study aims to develop a multi-sector and multilateral model of balance-of-payments constrained growth. As a starting point, we adopted the models proposed by Araujo and Lima (2007) and Nell (2003). The paper also presents computer simulations to test how structural changes in the Pasinetti-Kaldor sense affect long-term economic growth. This approach is relevant insofar as it enables the identification of sectors and trading partners that con…
