  • Factors Associated With Disparities in Hospital Readmission Rates Among US Adults Dually Eligible for Medicare and Medicaid

Open Access•David M Silvestri, David Silvestri et al.•ARTICLE•JAMA Health Forum•2022

In this cohort study, within-hospital disparities in 30-day readmission for DE patients were modestly associated with differences in state Medicaid policies and community-level factors. This suggests that remaining variation in these disparities should be the focus of hospital efforts to improve the quality of care transitions at discharge for DE patients in efforts to advance equity

  • The Politicisation of Abortion, Voters’ Stereotypes and the Electoral Success of Women Candidates

    Open Access•Agnes Blome, Anouk Lloren et al.•ARTICLE•Parliamentary Affairs•2018•References: 39

Gendered stereotypes about politicians are widespread in the electorate. This article analyses whether such stereotypes impact electoral results in a proportional representation open list system where candidates do not only compete against candidates from other parties but also compete against other members of their party. Borrowing from the literature on ‘gender issue ownership’, we evaluate whether female candidates who favour abortion, and thu…

  • Does direct democracy increase communicative responsiveness? A field experiment with Swiss politicians

    Open Access•Anouk Lloren•ARTICLE•Research & Politics•2017•Cited by: 3•References: 15

Many argue that direct democracy improves the quality of democracy. In particular, many scholars claim that it increases the representation of the public’s preferences by fostering communicative responsiveness between politicians and citizens. While studies have come to mixed conclusions about the effect of direct democracy on policy outcomes, little is known about how direct democratic processes affect politicians’ responsiveness. Using a field …

Lorena Parini, Anouk Lloren•ARTICLE•Travail genre et sociétés•2017•Cited by: 3•References: 23

  • How LGBT-Supportive Workplace Policies Shape the Experience of Lesbian, Gay Men, and Bisexual Employees

  • Are opinion leaders better represented

    Anouk Lloren, Reto Wüest•ARTICLE•West European Politics•2016•Cited by: 4•References: 64

Few studies have analysed the effect of political engagement on legislators’ responsiveness. This article focuses on opinion leaders defined as citizens who regularly discuss politics and who attempt to persuade others to change their viewpoint. It investigates whether opinion leaders are better represented compared to other voters. Taking advantage of the Swiss institution of direct democracy, the article combines roll-call votes and information…

  • Gendered policy preferences? Candidates’ views on political issues in a comparative perspective

    Open Access•Anouk Lloren, Jan Rosset•ARTICLE•Comparative European Politics•2015•Cited by: 9•References: 33

  • Women's Substantive Representation

    Anouk Lloren•ARTICLE•Journal of Legislative Studies•2015•Cited by: 22•References: 37

To what extent does the inclusion of marginalised groups in policymaking institutions influence policy outcomes? This article examines whether and under which conditions female legislators are more likely to represent women's interests compared with male legislators. Building on the literature on women's substantive representation, it is argued that the advocacy of women's interests by female representatives depends on a number of factors, namely…

  • Descriptive and Substantive Representation of Poor Citizens in Switzerland

Open Access•Anouk Lloren, Jan Rosset et al.•ARTICLE•Swiss Political Science Review•2015•Cited by: 7•References: 25

Over the past decade, a large number of studies have shown that in advanced democracies policymakers are more likely to represent the preferences of high-income citizens than the preferences of low-income citizens (e.g., Gilens 2005, 2012; Bartels 2008; Ellis 2012; Giger, Rosset and Bernauer 2012; Hayes 2012; Rigby and Wright 2013). In a quest to understand this income bias in substantive representation, several authors have recently suggested th…

  • Gender Quotas in Morocco

    Anouk Lloren•ARTICLE•Representation•2014•Cited by: 10•References: 25

More than 100 countries have adopted gender quota policies worldwide and a growing literature attempts to evaluate their impact. This article focuses on the Moroccan experience and investigates the effect of quotas on women's descriptive and symbolic representation at the party level. More precisely, I examine whether the Moroccan social-democratic party underwent changes since the 2002 introduction of reserved seats for women in parliament. The …

    Anouk Lloren•ARTICLE•Cahiers du Genre•2013•Cited by: 1•References: 12

Open Access•Alessandro Nai, Anouk Lloren•ARTICLE•Swiss Political Science Review•2009•Cited by: 4
