Change in College Students' Love-Styles
55 upper-division college students in two classes were administered a love-styles inventory (SAMPLE-70) at the beginning and end of the academic quarter. 25 received lectures on love and 30 did not. Table 1 presents the means and SDs for men and women black students on each of three subscales and the total scale. Very similar means were obtaine…
Ethnic Identity among Sansei and Yonsei Church-Affiliated Youth in Los Angeles and Honolulu
A comparative study of 112 Japanese-American Sansei and Yonsei youth in Los Angeles, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii—drawn from the rosters of youth active in Japanese-American church organizations—found no over-all differences by location, generation, or sex. Some significant differences, however, were noted for specific items. Of particular note are the shared (and continued) traditional values of these Los Angeles and Honolulu church-going Ja…

American College Students' Protestant Ethic
Results are reported of responses of liberal arts undergraduates from three southwest universities and one university in Hawaii to the Mirels-Garrett Protestant Ethic Scale. Interpretation of the scale using smallest space analysis R-l indicates that the American Protestant Ethic for university students has two major clusters?one emphasizing work and the other emphasizing leisure

This study considers the methodological difficulties involved in studying abortion behavior and religious preference and uses the conception cohort as a way of handling problems of sampling and comparison. It was hypothesized that Catholic women would have fewer abortions than non-Catholic women according to (1) their proportion in the overall population and (2) their proportion in the pregnant population. Using demographic and medical data colle…
