  • Qual o lugar das neurociências na educação

Open Access•Fernando Mazzilli Louzada, Fernando Louzada et al.•ARTICLE•Revista Estudos Culturais•2023

  • Daytime sleepiness in elementary school students

Open Access•Tâmile Stella Anacleto, João Guilherme Fiorani Borgio et al.•ARTICLE•Revista de Saúde Pública•2022

OBJECTIVE To investigate the occurrence of daytime sleepiness and associated sleep factors in a sample of elementary school students who attended school in the afternoon schedule. METHODS Sleep data from 363 Brazilian public school students (12.78 ± 1.36 years, 206 girls) were obtained by applying questionnaires in classrooms. All subjects attended school in the afternoon schedule, with classes starting between 1:00 and 1:20 p.m. Daytime sleepine…

  • Are We Ready to Implement Circadian Hygiene Interventions and Programs

Open Access•Claudia Roberta De Castro Moreno, Rose Raad et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Circadian hygiene, a concept not to be confused with the notion of public or social hygiene, should be discussed among experts and society. Light-dark cycles and other possible synchronizers of the human circadian timing system affect ways of life, including sleeping, eating, working and physical activity. Some of these behaviors have also been investigated individually as synchronizers (e.g., eating times). Therefore, the knowledge held today ab…

  • Self-reported discomfort associated with Daylight Saving Time in Brazilian tropical and subtropical zones

Open Access•João Carlos Nascimento de Alencar, Mario André Leocádio-Miguel et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2017

DST at low latitude locations may be disruptive for circadian rhythms, since seasonality of sunrise near the equator is negligible or very mild

  • Does the transition into daylight saving time really cause partial sleep deprivation

Open Access•Manoel Carlos Toth Quintilham, Taísa Adamowicz et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2014

Under the new set of social times determined by DST, the adjustment was only partial. I-types delayed bedtime and all groups delayed their wake-up times after the beginning of DST. Consequently, the time in bed after the DST transition was not reduced; Morning (M-types) and Evening-types (E-types) kept the same time in bed and I-types showed an increase on it

  • Sono, trabalho e estudo

Open Access•Érico Pereira Gomes Felden, Érico Felden Pereira et al.•ARTICLE•Cadernos de Saude Publica•2011•Cited by: 2•References: 24

  • What happens to the body when one works at night

Open Access•Claudia Roberta De Castro Moreno, Fernando Mazzilli Louzada•ARTICLE•Cadernos de Saude Publica•2004•Cited by: 3•References: 27

The objective of this paper is to present some recent chronobiological findings related to shift and night worker adaptation. First, some key chronobiological concepts concerning the human species are presented. The authors then discuss the possible impacts of work schedules on shift workers' and night workers' health. Finally, countermeasures that might allow adjusting the workers' biological rhythm to shift and night work are discussed
