A narrative review of factors influencing rider performance and horse welfare in equestrian activities
Equestrian sport is a unique multi-species discipline in which the performance of a horse-rider dyad depends on the harmonious interaction of two athletes with distinct biomechanics and needs. Although the sport contributes substantially to the global economy and is the only Olympic event involving two species, research on rider-centered factors has been fragmented. Current narrative review centered peer-reviewed evidence addressing three questio…
Evaluating the effectiveness of the “Spine Up” online program on depression and quality of life in people with multiple sclerosis
Although quantitative improvements were modest, participants consistently reported positive subjective changes, supporting the feasibility and acceptability of online spinal stabilization training for people with MS. Maintaining physical activity levels and observing even small improvements in mood may hold clinical relevance in a condition characterized by progressive decline
A comparative study of personality and cognitive functions in elite and sub-elite Hungarian junior handball players
In both the scientific and practical domains of sports, a central question remains: what makes an athlete successful, and which factors determine whether an individual becomes a professional athlete? Beyond physical, technical, and tactical skills, psychological factors are indispensable for success. This study aimed to investigate the personality profiles and general cognitive functions of Hungarian junior elite (regular national team members) a…
Effects of group mindfulness intervention on high-level distance runners

Methods Twenty Hungarian national and international-level athletes participated in a quasi-experimental design. The experimental group ( n = 10) completed a six-week MSPE intervention, while the control group ( n = 10) received no mental training. Psychological constructs, including flow, competitive anxiety…

Participants completed the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2, along with a custom-developed questionnaire – based on existing literature and practical experience – assessing the type, frequency, and…
The Structure of Psychological Immunity among Youth Team Sports Players
The psychological immune system provides cognitive, emotional, and behavioral responses to stress and provides immunity to promote healthy development, which would be key in sports settings. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the psychological immunity system among adolescent team sports players. We aimed to explore the structure of the psychological immunity system to see how it is used. Furthermore, we examined the effects of training fr…
Associations of physical activity and physical education enjoyment with self-concept domains among Hungarian adolescents
The present study suggested that enjoyment plays a more important role in self-concept than PA. PE enjoyment mainly strengthens boys' self-concept, but PA enjoyment is an important predictor of general self-concept in both genders. It is concluded that extracurricular PA enjoyment is beneficial, but increasing enjoyment of physical education could increase girls' self-concepts as well

Is there a demand for autocracies in Europe? Comparing the attitudes of Hungarian and Italian university students toward liberal democratic values inspired by János Kornai
In the European Union right-wing and left-wing populist parties are increasingly becoming stronger. Meanwhile in Central and Eastern Europe autocracies are emerging and becoming stabilized. Italy and Hungary are two notable examples of these processes. Italy is the only country in Western Europe where a coalition of purely populist parties won an election, while Hungary has the most mature autocracy in the European Union. By using survey methodol…
Sediment contributing invasive dreissenid species in a calcareous shallow lake – Possible implications for shortening life span of lakes by filling
Although the ecosystem transforming impact of the invasive dreissenid mussels has been widely reported in short-to-mid time scale studies, little is known about the contribution of the spent shells to sediments accumulating on the lake bottom. The question whether the shell production significantly reduces the lifespan of the lake by increasing sedimentation rate is particularly interesting in those shallow lakes where the calcium supply is suffi…

Az EU-csatlakozás lehetséges előnyei és hátrányai a magyar agrárgazdaságra
The transitions following the turn of the 1980s-1990s raised the issues about the future of Europe in a new light. The "European idea", the expansion of the EU was accompanied with the task of a possible Eastern expansion. The ideas concerning the future, however, are many times one-sided in their attitude and they are based on political and ideological notions, reflexes rather than reality. Still, they do not even meet the criteria of alternativ…
