In recent years the phenomenon of young black grand-motherhood is attracting the attention of social scientists in many disciplines. This problem stems from the fact that young unmarried teenage girls are giving birth and are thus making their young mothers grandmothers. Parents' values, family networks, and family development: Working with disadvantaged families
This paper reports and evaluates a strategy for working with disadvantaged families whose preschool children are showing signs of slow development. Parents are first interviewed concerning their child-rearing values. A series of concrete activities commensurate with the parents' own value system are then introduced into family life.
