  • What kind of urban–rural basic public services can affect the urban–rural income gap?–an analysis of FsQCA based on the TOE framework

Open Access•Qianqian He, HE Qian-qian et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Introduction: The urban-rural income gap and the non-equalization of basic public services constitute the core contradiction in China's urban-rural development. Methods: This study employs the fsQCA method based on the TOE framework to determine how technological, organizational, and environmental conditions collectively shape the urban-rural income gap in China's Yangtze River Delta region. Results: The findings reveal three distinct configurati…

  • Males or females in solo or group travel

Bin Wang, Dong Tiantian et al.•ARTICLE•Current Issues in Tourism•2025

Despite the growing popularity of solo travel, there is a limited understanding of males or females in solo or group travel, and how such perceptions impact observers’ travel intentions. Based on travel experiences shared online, this research investigates the effects of sharers’ travel mode and gender on travel intentions of potential tourists with different self-construals. With a 2 × 2 × 2 experiment, the study found that people with independe…

  • Positive valence ≠ positive effect

Wen He, Lulu Xu et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Social Psychology•2024

The aim of this study was to examine how positive meta-stereotypes impacted cognitive performance among disadvantaged groups and the mediating effect of negative emotions. In Experiments 1 and 2, Chinese migrant children and rural college students were randomly allocated to the positive meta-stereotype, negative meta-stereotype, or a non-meta-stereotype activation group to examine positive meta-stereotypes' effect on creativity and working memory…

  • Assessing the associations of 1,400 blood metabolites with major depressive disorder

Open Access•Dong Tiantian, Tiantian Dong et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2024

Within a pool of 1,400 blood metabolites, we identified 34 known metabolites and 13 unknown metabolites, as well as 18 metabolite ratios associated with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Additionally, three functionally enriched groups and two metabolic pathways were selected. The integration of genomics and metabolomics has provided significant insights for the screening and prevention of MDD

  • To which world regions does the valence-dominance model of social perception apply

    Open Access•Bartlett C Jones, Lisa Debruine et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2021•Cited by: 4•References: 48

Over the past 10 years, Oosterhof and Todorov’s valence–dominance model has emerged as the most prominent account of how people evaluate faces on social dimensions. In this model, two dimensions (valence and dominance) underpin social judgements of faces. Because this model has primarily been developed and tested in Western regions, it is unclear whether these findings apply to other regions. We addressed this question by replicating Oosterhof an…
