  • On the problem of possible last-glacial forest-refuge-areas within the deep valleys of eastern Tibet

Open Access•Burkhard Frenzel, Achim Bräuning et al.•ARTICLE•Erdkunde•2003

  • Stable carbon- and hydrogen-isotope ratios of subfossil oaks in southern Germany: Methodology and application to a composite record for the Holocene

    Open Access•Christoph Mayr, Burkhard Frenzel et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2003•Cited by: 1•References: 3

The &D and δ 13 C values of tree rings from dendrochronologically dated subfossil Holocene oaks have been studied for palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimate reconstructions. The wood material mainly originates from fluvial deposits of the river Main and to a lesser extent from the Danube and Rhine regions in southern Germany. The chronology consists of the isotope records of 82 trees that cover a large part of the Holocene. The periods 8230 BC to …

  • Revisions and Extension of the Hohenheim Oak and Pine Chronologies: New Evidence About the Timing of the Younger Dryas/Preboreal Transition

Open Access•Marco Spurk, Michael Friedrich et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1998•Cited by: 22•References: 13

Oak and pine samples housed at the Institute of Botany, University of Hohenheim, are the backbone of the early Holocene part of the radiocarbon calibration curve, published in 1993 (Becker 1993; Kromer and Becker 1993; Stuiver and Becker 1993; Vogel et al. 1993). Since then the chronologies have been revised. The revisions include 1) the discovery of 41 missing years in the oak chronology and 2) a shift of 54 yr for the oldest part back into the …
