  • Intergenerational memory and trauma. From the micro to the macro , and back again

    Open Access•Giorgia Proietti•ARTICLE•Memory Studies•2025•References: 14

In this article, I approach Cordonnier’s data from the vantage point of collective memory studies as they are applied to historical reconstruction. Memory studies equip the historian with new interpretative tools for exploring how individuals and communities reconstruct, represent, and narrate their past depending on their socio-cultural context. Jan and Aleida Assmann’s groundbreaking reflections on cultural memory and Maurice Halbwachs’ studies…

  • Solone e la guerra contro Megara

    Open Access•Giorgia Proietti•ARTICLE•Mythos•2024

    Giorgia Proietti•BOOK•Prima di Erodoto•2021•Cited by: 2

  • Slow-Speed Resistance Training Increases Skeletal Muscle Contractile Properties and Power Production Capacity in Elite Futsal Players

Open Access•Pierpaolo Iodice, Athos Trecroci et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2020•References: 1

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of slow-speed resistance training with low intensity (SRT) on muscle power output in elite futsal players with respect to traditional resistance training. The authors hypothesized that the muscle deoxygenation during SRT causes early recruitment of fast twitch fibers that would positively affect strength and power performance. Thirty male elite futsal players were recruited and randomly assigne…

  • Commemorating War and War Dead

Maurizio Giangiulio, Elena Franchi et al.•EDITOR•BOOK•Commemorating War and War Dead•2019

Since Bouthoul's seminal work on polemology (1951), war studies have been increasingly influenced by sociology, psychology and psychoanalysis, memory studies, and even literary theory; while also weathering the storms of the cultural turn and, more generally, postmodernism. These are challenges that raised new questions, or offered new answers. How is war memorialized and commemorated? How do individuals react to war trauma? How are individual re…

  • War and Memory

    Open Access•Giorgia Proietti•ARTICLE•Bulletin of the Institute of…•2015

Before Herodotus, the Persian Wars underwent a multifaceted process of memorialization. As a consequence of the homeostasis of historical memory with contemporary social and semantic needs, pre-Herodoteanand Herodotean narratives about the same event can differ a great deal. This is well exemplified by the development of the historical tradition about the clash between Greeks and Persians at Psyttaleia. Reduced to a trivial appendix to the battle…

  • Beyond the ‚Invention of Athens‘. The 5 th century Athenian „Tatenkatalog“ as example of ,Intentional History‘

    Open Access•Giorgia Proietti•ARTICLE•Klio•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 38

Nicole Loraux’s seminal book „L’invention d’Athènes“ (1981) opened a new way of understanding the Athenian funeral oration. It is a well-known fact that the Athenians exploited the annual logos epitaphios in honor of the war dead to convey a patriotic image of the Athenian past, centered on a canonical list of glorious mythic-historical deeds. This list – the so called „Tatenkatalog“ – has been so far investigated in terms of either ,political pr…
