  • The changing landscape of arts and action research

    Open Access•Mary Brydon-Miller, Ariane Berthoin Antal et al.•ARTICLE•Action Research•2011•Cited by: 7•References: 2

Watching the evening come across Cadair Idris, a spectacular mountain in northwest Wales, you can see the landscape change moment by moment as the shadows of the clouds shift across the slope and the sky darkens. The view is at once constantly changing and eternal – the bones of the mountain, the essential truth of the landscape, remain (see Figure 1). Action research has changed the landscape of social science research by dramatically shifting o…

  • Art as experience

    Open Access•Patricia Gayá Wicks, Ann Rippin•ARTICLE•Leadership•2010•Cited by: 6•References: 13

This article reflects on an arts-based action inquiry process involving students on an MSc in Management Learning and Change. • Initiating action research

    Open Access•Patricia Gayá Wicks, Peter Reason•ARTICLE•Action Research•2009•Cited by: 59•References: 10

The success or failure of an action research venture often depends on what happens at the beginning of the inquiry process: in the way access is established, and on how participants and co-researchers are engaged early on. ‘Opening communicative space’ is important because, however we base our theory and practice of action research, the first steps are fateful. We draw on Habermas’s theorizing of the boundary-crises between system and lifeworld t…
