Latino Youth in the Juvenile Drug Court of Orange County, California
This study examines the factors associated with successful completion of the Orange County Juvenile Drug Court (OCJDC) for 232 (164 male and 68 female) adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 years. No significant associations were found between graduation status and participants' age, most serious prior offense, entry offense, primary drug of choice, or secondary drug of choice. Gender Differences in Coping Strategies of Spousal Dementia Caregivers
A sample of 63 spousal dementia caregivers was obtained through the Orange and Los Angeles Caregivers Resource Centers (CRC). Subjects completed the Geriatric Depression Scale and the Coping Strategy Indicator. Results indicated significant gender differences in regard to both depression and coping strategies. Women were significantly more depressed than men. Female caregivers sought more social support and employed more avoidance strategies than…
Surrogate Motherhood
This study explored the personality traits of 15 women who served as surrogate mothers in a California-based surrogacy program. Their satisfaction with their service providers, i.e., the program director, psychologist, and medical doctor, were explored. All had given birth to one or more children, and five had been a surrogate more than once. 13 used in vitro fertilization, with only two choosing artificial insemination. 15 subjects were given th…
