Effects of Race and Income on Mortality and Use of Services among Medicare Beneficiaries
BACKGROUND: There are wide disparities between blacks and whites in the use of many Medicare services. We studied the effects of race and income on mortality and use of services. Sociopsychological determinants of women's breast-feeding behavior: A replication and extension
Women's birth experience, studied in two time periods, had negligible impact on their persistence in breast-feeding, nor did early postpartum experience, type of feeding regimen, or timing of solid food introduction emerge as significant correlates. Women's prenatal intentions were the strongest predictor of breast-feeding success in the first month, and the mother's own history of having been breast-fed as an infant appears to be a predisposing …

Estimating the Effects of Marriage Timing on Educational Attainment: Some Procedural Issues and Substantive Clarifications
The importance of marriage timing for educational attainment is examined for a national sample of young men and women. In attempting to deal with technical deficiencies in earlier research on this issue, we distinguish schooling obtained prior to marrying from that obtained afterward and adjust both measures for the age-grading of school enrollment patterns.
