War-related stressors and mental health
The findings underscore the role that a sense of betrayal may play in the relationships between economic and traumatic loss and mental health outcomes. Targeted interventions addressing betrayal may help mitigate these symptoms in civilians exposed to trauma. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2026 APA, all rights reserved)
War, media, and emotion
Emotion regulation skills play a role between exposure to violence in media and the development of PTSS and anxiety during times of war. Cognitive reappraisal is associated with a protective effect against media exposure, highlighting the importance of teaching individuals exposed to media during wartime to enhance their cognitive reappraisal skills. Dropout from Mental Health Treatment Among Asylum-Seekers in Israel
Trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Mental Health Care of Asylum Seekers
Asylum seekers in Israel from East Africa frequently experienced traumatic events along their journey, particularly in the Sinai Peninsula, where they were subjected to trafficking and torture. Exposure to trauma has implications for rights that are contingent on refugee status. This retrospective chart review aimed to characterize the types of traumas experienced by 219 asylum seekers (149 men) from Eritrea and Sudan who sought treatment at a sp…
The Fear of Covid-19 Familial Infection Scale
The Fear of COVID-19 Familial Infection (FCFI) scale examines parents’ fear levels of infecting their families with COVID-19. A Functional Network Perspective on Posttraumatic Stress in Refugees
There is an important, long-standing debate regarding the universality vs. specificity of trauma-related mental health symptoms in socio-culturally and linguistically diverse population groups, such as refugees and asylum seekers. Network theory, an emerging development in the field of psychological science, provides a novel data analytic methodology to evaluate and empirically examine long-standing questions about the structure and function of p…

The Association Between Postnatal Depression, Acculturation and Mother–Infant Bond Among Eritrean Asylum Seekers in Israel
Ethnic disparities in mental health treatment gap in a community-based survey and in access to care in psychiatric clinics
BACKGROUND: Contrasting social status of ethnic groups differentially impacts the use of psychiatric services, including in Israel, despite its universal health system. However, relevant studies are limited. AIMS: To examine ethnic differences in mental health treatment gap and in access to specialized care. METHODS: Data were gathered from two sources. Study I included Mizrahi (Jews of North African/Asian origin, socially disadvantaged, n = 136)…
Exposure to Traumatic Experiences Among Asylum Seekers from Eritrea and Sudan During Migration to Israel
The association between acculturation patterns and mental health symptoms among Eritrean and Sudanese asylum seekers in Israel
