  • The Right to Die' by Russel Ogden

    Bruce W Wilkinson•ARTICLE•Canadian Public Policy•1995•Cited by: 1

Russel Ogden has presented a case for legislation legalizing euthanasia, and buttressed it with a variety of supposed 'social benefits' emanating from this legalization. In the process he dismisses the concerns of opponents of euthanasia, particularly the 'slippery slope' argument which submits that once euthanasia is permitted, it will lead to involuntary euthanasia as well. And he provides a rather selective assessment of the entire aid-in-dyin…

  • The Saskatchewan Potash Industry and the 1987 US Antidumping Action

    Bruce W Wilkinson•ARTICLE•Canadian Public Policy•1989

This paper examines the U.S. antidumping allegations against the Saskatchewan potash industry. It concludes that the U.S. "fair trade" laws and the administration of them were essentially used to protect the U.S. industry as it continues its long run decline due to exhaustion of reserves. It then considers whether the recent Canada-U.S. comprehensive trade agreement will grant any relief to Canadian industries from such actions in the future and …

To make it start, one has to turn the key on, wait for about 10 seconds, pump the gas pedal about 15 times, and then attempt to engage the starter. Frequently, all one gets even then is a whine or a whirring sound, but no turning over of the motor. After this occurs a few times, the starter will suddenly engage, the motor will burst into life, and much …

    Bruce W Wilkinson•ARTICLE•Canadian Public Policy•1982•References: 2

The topic of Canada-US free trade, or some variation thereof, has been around since well before Confederation, so it is unlikely that this symposium will produce the last word on the topic. Yet, with any luck at all, we may be able to clarify some of the issues and viewpoints. With the Tokyo Round of GATT tariff reductions underway, perhaps discussion of whether we have some form of free trade is, for many industries, largely academic. Freer trad…
