Extraversion and Performance on Raven's Matrices in 15–16 Year Old Children
S ummary . Anthony's theory (1973) of the development of extraversion in children requires that there should be a negative correlation between extraversion and intelligence in adolescents over the age of 13 or 14. To test this, Raven's Progressive Matrices and the Junior Eysenck Personality Inventory were administered to a large group (802) of 15‐ and 16‐year‐olds. There was a significant positive correlation between extraversion and the Matrices…
Sociability and Behaviour Disturbance
EPI scores of 60 young people (30M, 30F), newly admitted to a psychiatric hospital because of behaviour disorders, were compared with those of 60 controls. The “impulsive” and “sociable” parts of the extraversion scores were examined separately. The patients were higher than the controls on neuroticism but the mean scores on extraversion and its components did not differ. However, on extraversion and sociability the patients had a significantly g…
Indices of Early Dementia on Wais
The generalized loss of efficiency found in presenile and early senile dementia might be expected to produce a fairly regular pattern of WAIS subtest scores. Also, for these patients diagnosis by psychological methods is of more practical relevance than for other types of brain damage. The records of 148 patients from two previous studies were inspected. They had been tested when the diagnosis was doubtful and classified after a follow-up of at l…

A note on intelligence and date of birth
Some Characteristics of Children With Two Types of Speech Disorder
S ummary . An investigation was made of twenty successive cases of developmental speech defects. They were divided according to the type of speech disorder (Greene 1960) into a ‘Motor’ group (eight children) and a ‘Language’ group (twelve children). In the Motor group, but not the Language, there was evidence of delay in general motor maturation. The two groups were compared on measures of mechanical reading, consistency of laterality and W.I.S.C…
