  • Stakeholders’ perceptions of factors shaping quality of life in rural areas

Open Access•Maria Andreoli, Francesca Gerini et al.•ARTICLE•Aestimum•2026

Rural areas play a crucial role in achieving sustainable development, yet they face persistent and recurring social issues such as demographic decline, limited access to essential services, and economic stagnation. Framed on community revitalization and place-based development, this study examines the factors influencing quality of life in marginal rural areas at high risk of abandonment, focusing on Basilicata and Tuscany—two Italian regions wit…

  • Exploring alternative proteins

Tommaso Fantechi, Nicola Marinelli et al.•ARTICLE•British Food Journal•2026

Purpose This study examines the psychological drivers influencing the intention to engage alternative proteins as potential substitutes for meat, utilising an extended framework of the norm activation model. Our framework incorporates awareness of meat consumption impacts, personal responsibility, involvement in sustainable and healthy eating and involvement in animal welfare. These factors shape personal norms, which ultimately influence the int…

  • From productivity to abandonment

Open Access•Tommaso Fantechi, Caterina Contini et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Rural Studies•2025•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Farmland abandonment is a growing concern, with labour productivity playing a central role. Using FADN (Farm Accountancy Data Network) data (2010–2022), segmented by type of farming, macro-area, and economic size, this study analyses Italian farm labour productivity, both gross and net of EU subsidies. Results show that more than one third of Italian farms, representing over 2 million hectares of Utilised Agricultural Area, present great difficul…

  • Structure of a Variscan migmatite-granite transition zone (N Sardinia, Italy)

Open Access•Marino De Luca, Nicole Ruberti et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2023

This paper presents the structural map of the Barrabisa Complex, an E-W ribbon-like migmatitic massif exposed in the northern part of Sardinia. The migmatites consist of metatexites and diatexites with variable melt proportion, grading in the central part of the complex to a foliated peraluminous granodiorite. Xenotime/monazite dating indicates that the foliated granodiorite pluton emplaced in upper Carboniferous times (≈307–313 Ma) within a narr…

  • Structure of the Castellaccio Pluton (Asinara Island, Italy)

Open Access•Stefano Cuccuru, Leonardo Casini et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2018

This paper illustrates the geological and structural map (scale 1:10,000) of the Castellaccio Pluton (Asinara island – Italy), a peraluminous granodioritic intrusion of Variscan age that belongs to the Corsica-Sardinia Batholith. This small pluton, about 15 km2, emplaced within Paleozoic amphibolite-facies rocks during the post-collisional exhumation of the chain. The map shows the fine details of the magmatic structure of the pluton. Field-struc…

  • Structural and metallogenic map of late Variscan Arbus Pluton (SW Sardinia, Italy)

    Open Access•Stefano Cuccuru, S Naitza et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2016

This paper presents the geological, structural and metallogenic map of the Arbus Pluton, a late Variscan composite intrusion belonging to the Corsica-Sardinia Batholith. The pluton is surrounded and crosscut by a wide variety of vein ore deposits. The Arbus Pluton was emplaced at shallow crustal levels at the end of the Variscan Orogeny, along an E–W trending shear zone located in the low-grade external nappe pile of the Sardinian basement. The a…

  • Structural map of Variscan northern Sardinia (Italy)

Open Access•Leonardo Casini, Stefano Cuccuru et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2015

In this paper, we present a geological structural map (1:100,000 scale, ∼2300 km 2 surface area) of the Variscan basement of northern Sardinia. The map integrates field structural analysis, extensive gamma-ray spectrometry, and high-resolution ELA-ICP-MS U/Th-Pb zircon and monazite dating. A set of 10 samples of granitic rocks collected from different plutons were characterized for their crystallization age. This provided an accurate timing of ma…

  • La riforma della Politica Agricola Comunitaria e la filiera olivicolo-olearia italiana

Open Access•Leonardo Casini, Casini Leonardo et al.•BOOK•La riforma della Politica…•2003

The book illustrates the results of a wide-ranging survey of the overall situation of the olive oil market and the Italian production chain for olives and olive oil. Based on the results of this investigation, two possible prospects for development have been identified. The first follows the guidelines that prevail at Community level, favouring a specialist olive cultivation. The second instead aims at a valorisation of agriculture where it featu…
