  • Teacher Education Graduates: Sex, Career Plans, and Preferences for Job Factors

    Open Access•Pat M Keith, Richard D Warren et al.•ARTICLE•Urban Education•1983•Cited by: 2•References: 10

Differing prospective job rewards guide women into elementary or secondary teaching. Among prospective high school teachers there are no gender-linked job reward preferences

  • Social-indicator model building: A multiple-indicator design

    Open Access•Richard D Warren, Frank A Fear et al.•ARTICLE•Social Indicators Research•1980•References: 9

  • Testing and clarifying a macro model of socioeconomic change and fertility

    H C Chang, Richard D Warren et al.•ARTICLE•Social Biology•1979•Cited by: 4•References: 9

This study examines human reproduction and its causal links to the socioeconomic conditions of society within the framework of the demographic transition. A theoretical fertility model for one hundred countries (28 more developed countries [MDC's] and 72 less developed countries [LDC's]) is subjected to path analysis. Findings for the hundred countries were mainly a function of the LDC's. Stronger support was found in the LDC's for the indirect f…

  • Correlated Denominators in Multiple Regression and Change Analyses

    Open Access•Brian F Pendleton, Richard D Warren et al.•ARTICLE•Sociological Methods & Research•1979•Cited by: 6•References: 36

Sociological and demographic research often uses variables computed as ratios. When the denominators are highly correlated, or identical, and the ratios are used in correlation or regression analysis, a statistical dependency is formed. Interpre tations and inferences may be difficult to make and misleading. This article has two basic purposes. The first is to show how this problem expands from bivariate correlation and regression to partial corr…

  • Comparing Causal Models

    David A Specht, Richard D Warren•ARTICLE•Sociological Methodology•1976•Cited by: 3

Zelditch (1971) and Schoenberg (1972) have called attention to the need to compare structural parameters in different populations.1 Such comparisons can yield information about collective characteristics that influence the operation of the modeled system in different settings. Blalock (1964) proposes such comparisons and points out that comparison of standardized regression coefficients (path coefficients) is confounded by variance

  • Communications

    Open Access•Richard D Warren, Kathleen M Foster et al.•ARTICLE•Family and Consumer Sciences…•1973

  • Moderator Effects on Attitude Scale Construction1

    Open Access•Richard D Warren, Charles L Mulford et al.•ARTICLE•Family and Consumer Sciences…•1973•References: 10

Data from a study on smoking and health are used to examine three methodological questions: (1) Does the method of scale construction influence the items in the resultant scales? (2) Do alternative subgroup delineations influence the formulation of scales? (3) If different scales are formed, what is the influence on measurement criteria, such as reliability, inter‐item and item‐total correlations, and statistical testing?Attitude scales were form…

  • Socialization, Communication, and Role Performance

    Open Access•Charles L Mulford, Gerald E Klonglan et al.•ARTICLE•Sociological Quarterly•1972•Cited by: 1•References: 2

The purpose of this phase of a research project with a government agency was to test the hypothesis of Amitai Etzioni involving socialization, communication, and role performance. The data indicate both socialization and communication are siginificantly associated with role performance. Communication continues to affect role performance to a significant degree regardless of the degree of initial socialization experienced. These data do not suppor…

  • A causal model of effectiveness in organizations

    Open Access•Charles Lee Mulford, Gerald E Klonglan et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science Research•1972•Cited by: 2•References: 11

  • The Application of Psychophysical Scaling Techniques to Measurement of Political Variables

Richard D Warren, Allen Mayhew Shinn•ARTICLE•American Sociological Review•1971•Cited by: 1

  • The Measurement of Goal Agreement between Husbands and Wives

Open Access•Jenniev Poulson, Jenniev Jorgensen Poulson et al.•ARTICLE•Sociological Quarterly•1966

OVER THE years, there seems to have been only a sporadic concern with the goals of husbands and wives or the objectives towards which marriage partners strive. Perhaps even more impressive than the general dearth of research on family goals is the specific lack of research relevant to the agreement of husbands and wives concerning their goals. In marriage, after all, we have a man and woman who, whatever their personal aspirations and ambitions, …
