    1. Pragmatism and Feminism: Movements in Waves The first woman to have access to the university and finish a bachelor degree in the United States was presumably Elizabeth Blackwell (1821-1910). She studied Medicine, but significantly, as many other women of her generation, she encountered a strong social rejection to her aspirations to work as physician and she often worked as schoolteacher to support her family. She was also a social reformer de…

  • Literatura y exilio

Núria Sara Miras Boronat•ARTICLE•Journal of Iberian and Latin…•2021

In February 2017, the most massive demonstration in favor of refugees took place in Barcelona with the motto Refugees welcome! Yet, since then migration policies have become more restrictive under the influence of neofascist movements. How are we to cope with this social polarization? How are we to overcome the moral paralysis of Southern Europe regarding refugee policies? Since language creates reality, this article will examine the vagueness of…

  • Utopias in conflict

    Núria Sara Miras Boronat•ARTICLE•Critical Discourse Studies•2016•Cited by: 1•References: 5

The concepts of ‘utopia’ and ‘ideology’ were key elements in political debate in the twentieth century, but seem to have disappeared from the scene in the twenty-first. After the collapse of communism, the media and intellectuals announced the demise of utopia, coinciding with the end of history and ideology. In common parlance, the use of the terms largely remains pejorative or, in academic circles, conceptually ambiguous. Despite their inherent…

  • Richard Bernstein, Filosofía y democracia

Open Access•Núria Sara Miras Boronat•ARTICLE•European Journal of Pragmatism…•2011

This book review could also be entitled "John Dewey: Old and New," recalling a distant resemblance to one of the most well known books of Dewey, Individualism Old and New (1930). But in this case the subject pursued under this title would be the development in the reception of John Dewey's work in the past century. This is a genuine hermeneutical reflection on the significance of one of the most important American intellectuals in the present day

  • Comprensión, diálogo y finitud

    Open Access•Núria Sara Miras Boronat•ARTICLE•ENDOXA•2005
