    Ágústa Edwald, Ágústa Edwald Maxwell•ARTICLE•Post-Medieval Archaeology•2021•Cited by: 4•References: 13

The paper looks at changes in the composition of archaeological assemblages from 19th-century Iceland. It contextualises an increase in ceramics with other domestic materials by combining archaeological data with evidence from probate inventories. The study confirms that there was a marked change in domestic materiality in Iceland in the middle of the 19th century and suggests that further research into the origins and effects of this change need…

  • Organizational readiness for wellness promotion – a survey of 100 African American church leaders in South Los Angeles

Open Access•Ágústa Edwald Maxwell, Rhonda Santifer et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2019

Many churches in South Los Angeles are actively engaged in health promotion activities, despite a general lack of resources. We recommend a comprehensive assessment of church characteristics in intervention studies to enable the use of strategies (e.g., stratification by size) that reduce imbalances that could mask or magnify study outcomes. Our data provide empirical support for the inner settings construct of the Consolidated Framework for Impl…

  • On decentring ethnicity in buildings research

Open Access•Ágústa Edwald, Ágústa Edwald Maxwell et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social Archaeology•2017•Cited by: 4•References: 33

The concept of ethnicity is a prevailing explanatory device in studies of colonial architecture. This paper argues for decentring ethnicity in buildings research through treating buildings as 'assemblages' of both material and social 'things'. Drawing on a case study from the late 19th-century settler landscape of Manitoba, Canada, we illustrate how settler architecture - conceived of as an 'assemblage' - can shed light on the events, processes a…

  • Social determinants of health in the Mixtec and Zapotec community in Ventura County, California

Open Access•Ágústa Edwald Maxwell, Sandra Young et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal for Equity…•2015

Many basic needs in the Mixtec and Zapotec community in Ventura County are unmet. It will require many different resources and services to address the needs of this community and to overcome longstanding inequities that are experienced by immigrant farm workers. Our findings will guide the development of future health programs and will serve as a baseline to evaluate the impact of services to improve the health conditions in this community

Public health organizations need greater supports for adopting evidence-based interventions, working with organizational-level change, partnership development and data management. Future capacity building efforts for the adoption of EBIs should focus on systems or provider level interventions and key processes for health promotion and should be delivered in a variety of ways to assist local organizations in cancer prevention and control

  • Adoption of an evidence-based colorectal cancer screening promotion program by community organizations serving Filipino Americans

Open Access•Ágústa Edwald Maxwell, Annette E Maxwell et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

The high rate of adoption among organizations that were referred by community partners or had partnered with us in the past underscores the importance of community resources, community-academic relationships, and partnership in the dissemination process. However, the moderate rate of adoption among new organizations and the demands of completing documentation and assessments in our trial to advance dissemination research raise questions regarding…

S ummary . A factor analysis of the correlation matrix for the sub‐tests of the WISC was carried out for each of the age groups 7 , 10 and 13 years. In each analysis two factors were extracted and these, after rotation, are found to give patterns of loadings which are similar for all three age groups. The factors were then rotated: the first is labelled ‘vg’ (verbal‐intellectual), and the second ‘sp’ (space‐performance). Methods for obtaining fac…
