The Making of a Pandemic: Social, Political, and Psychological Perspectives on Covid-19
Third Wave Capitalism: How Money, Power, and the Pursuit of Self-Interest Have Imperiled the American Dream
In Third Wave Capitalism , John Ehrenreich documents the emergence of a new stage in the history of American capitalism. Just as the industrial capitalism of the nineteenth century gave way to corporate capitalism in the twentieth, recent decades have witnessed corporate capitalism evolving into a new phase, which Ehrenreich calls "Third Wave Capitalism."Third Wave Capitalism is marked by apparent contradictions: Rapid growth in productivity and …
Managing stress in humanitarian aid workers: A survey of humanitarian aid agencies' psychosocial training and support of staff
A survey of humanitarian aid organizations was conducted, addressing their practices with respect to mitigating and managing stress in their field staff. Only 17 of over 100 nongovernmental organizations contacted responded to the survey. Even among those that did respond, the limits on their investment in this area were evident. Few reported even the most perfunctory screening of potential staff with respect to risk factors for adverse responses…
Understanding PTSD: "Forgetting "Trauma
The concept of "psychological trauma" conflates emotional responses to traumatic events such as motor vehicle accidents, muggings, and house fires, responses to natural disasters such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, and responses to war, chronic physical abuse, prolonged torture, and repeated gang-rape as an act of "ethnic cleansing." It is argued that, from a psychological, human, and moral perspective, use of a single construct to descri…
Women in Prison: Approaches to Understanding the Lives of a Forgotten Population
The number of women inmates in state and federal prisons has increased rapidly in recent decades. Relatively little is known about this population, and virtually nothing is known about the distinct experiences of African American, Hispanic, and White women in prison. This article reviews the literature on this population and presents research directions and strategies that can capture both the commonalities and differences in the women's experien…
Normative Data for Adults on a Short Form of the Selective Reminding Test
A 6-trial version of the verbal Selective Reminding Test was administered to 56 adults, ages 18 to 58 years, with no prior neurological or psychiatric history. Norms are reported for all scores generated by the test
Comparison of Self-Report and Projective Measures of Dependency
No correlation was found between the interpersonal dependency of subjects assessed by two different methods, a self-report measure and a measure of dependency based on TAT stories. Issues related to lack of consensual definition of “dependency” and the differences in what projective and self-report tests measure are held accountable for the lack of agreement between the measures

The Search for Theory: Synthesis or Dissonance
It is misleading in itself to treat 'white-collar labour' as an undifferentiated category, and the overall expansion of the white- collar sector in the capitalist societies conceals differential rates of growth in various occupational sub-categories. Whereas the relatively early enlargement of the white-collar sector mainly concerned the growth of clerical and sales occupations, in neocapitalism those occupations usually grouped by census statist…
