  • The effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation over the lateral parietal region on episodic future thinking and episodic memory

Open Access•Constantino Toufexis, Janie Busby Grant et al.•ARTICLE•Consciousness and Cognition•2026

The left angular gyrus (AG) has been implicated in the level of detail elicited during both episodic memory (EM) and episodic future thinking (EFT). This study aimed to investigate whether repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over the left lateral parietal region consistent with left AG targeting influences the level of detail reported during elicitations of EM and EFT. Thirty-six healthy adults (41.7% female, mean age = 25.36 year…

  • The Uncanny Effect of Speech: The Impact of Appearance and Speaking on Impression Formation in Human–Robot Interactions

Open Access•Neelu Gurung, Janie Busby Grant et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•2024

This study explores the impact of appearance and speech on human perceptions of faces in human- robot interactions. Three videos were generated depicting the real face of an artist and two virtual versions of the same artist, with increasing resolution and fidelity. Each video was presented with and without speech, with matching levels of fidelity to the faces (real human speech and machine- generated speech of two levels of realism). Participant…

  • How can our children learn from us about our way of life or understand who they are: Residential schools and their impact on the wellbeing of Indigenous youth in Attapadi, South India

Residential schools are commonly used in India to provide education for Indigenous youth, which requires young people to stay for long periods at distance from their families and communities. Internationally, there is clear evidence for the deleterious effects of residential schools on the mental health and social and community outcomes of Indigenous children, however little is known about the Indian Indigenous experience. This study examined the…

  • Manipulating the Valence of Future Thought: The Effect on Affect

    Open Access•Janie Busby Grant, Neil Wilson•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2020

Imagining personal future events is associated with well-being, but the nature and direction of this relationship are unclear. This study investigated whether imagining episodic future scenarios, experimentally manipulated for valence, have an immediate impact on affect. University students ( N = 197) completed a 2 × 3 between-subject online study in which they imagined four personal events likely to occur in the future. Participants were directe…

  • Production of temporal terms by 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old children

    Open Access•Janie Busby Grant, Thomas Suddendorf•ARTICLE•Early Childhood Research Quarterly•2010•Cited by: 2•References: 3

  • Digital Dialogue? Australian Politicians' use of the Social Network Tool Twitter

Will J Grant, Will Grant et al.•ARTICLE•Australian Journal of Political…•2010•Cited by: 83•References: 14

The recent emergence of online social media has had a significant effect on the contemporary political landscape, yet our understanding of this remains less than complete. This article adds to current understanding of the online engagement between politicians and the public by presenting the first quantitative analysis of the utilisation of the social network tool Twitter by Australian politicians. The analysis suggests that politicians are attem…
