Matthew J Miller, Matthew Miller et al.•ARTICLE•The New Educator•2024•References: 3

Clinical supervisors serve an essential role in the field of teacher preparation. Instead of positioning clinical supervisors at the fringes of our teacher preparation program, we reorganized our teaching internship to center supervisors as the hub connecting interns, collaborating mentor teachers, districts, and faculty. In this manuscript we share benefits of this relational model coupled with ongoing challenges. In the field of teacher prepara…

We tested whether a digital storytelling video on anti-Black racism could improve empathic reactions to anti-Black racism and decrease fear of Black individuals (FBI) among Asian American emerging adults, and whether these changes were associated with greater anti-racism advocacy intentions. Asian American emerging adults ( Mage = 19.92; N = 205) were randomly assigned to view either storytelling or informational online videos. Data was collected…

    Open Access•Melanie M Wilcox, Andrés E Pérez‐Rojas et al.•ARTICLE•The Counseling Psychologist•2024•Cited by: 14•References: 101

For counseling psychology to realize its commitments to uprooting anti-Black racism and white supremacy, we must shift from an individual to a structural frame of reference. We expand on prior calls to build upon the structural competencies approach that has been detailed in the medical literature and integrated into medical education. Whereas our existing “cultural” approaches orient us toward individual differences and characteristics, the stru…

  • Predictors of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics choice options: A meta-analytic path analysis of the social–cognitive choice model by gender and race/ethnicity.

    Open Access•Robert W Lent, Hung-Bin Sheu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Counseling Psychology•2018

We tested the interest and choice portion of social-cognitive career theory (SCCT; Lent, Brown, & Hackett, 1994) in the context of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) domains. Data from 143 studies (including 196 independent samples) conducted over a 30-year period (1983 through 2013) were subjected to meta-analytic path analyses. The interest/choice model was found to fit the data well over all samples as well as within samp…

The Perceived Online Racism Scale (PORS) is the first measure specifically developed to assess online racist interpersonal interactions and exposure to online racist content. To advance and strengthen the psychometric foundation of the PORS, the current study evaluated the measurement invariance of PORS across gender and age, two major demographic categories that can differentially affect how racism is perceived. Based on the framework of interse…
