  • Marking irons (signacula ferrea) from Pannonia

Open Access•Robert Müller, Bence Simon et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeologiai Értesítő•2025

In recent years, research into Roman marking irons gets more intensive as the number of the identified objects steadily increases. In this paper we attempted to collect all the known signacula ferrea from the territory of Pannonia and added three recently discovered pieces to this collection. The identified types, inscriptions and the findspots match the tendencies of other Roman military provinces

  • A balatonőszödi vaseszközlelet keltezése

    Robert Müller•ARTICLE•Kaposvári Rippl-Rónai Múzeum…•2024

The assemblage of ten iron tools found at Balatonszd-Temeti dl was assessed and discussed by Katalin Boglrka Bognr. In my view, the assemblage was not hidden in the thirteenth-fourteenth centuries, but in the early Middle Ages, probably during the ninth century.Amending her map of the findspots of medieval iron tools and implements, I reviewed the early medieval iron tool finds in Hungary, mainly from the ninth century

  • A középkori vaseszköz leletek keltezése

  • A Keszthely-Kultúra Ma

  • Rents, Actors, and the Expansion of Commodity Frontiers in the Gran Chaco

Yann Le Polain De Waroux, Matthias Baumann et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of the American…•2018•Cited by: 33•References: 70

Theories of frontier expansion in the last four decades have been mostly shaped by studies of state-driven smallholder colonization. Modern-day agricultural frontiers, however, are increasingly driven by capitalized corporate agriculture operating with little direct government intervention. The expansion of contemporary frontiers has been explained by the existence of spatially heterogeneous “abnormal” rents, which can be caused by cheap land and…

  • Radius oder colus? Textilhandwerk und Umweltveränderung im spätkaiserzeitlichen Pannonien

    Robert Müller, Robert A Muller•ARTICLE•Acta Archaeologica Academiae…•2016

In this paper I prove that the 20–30 cm long, tapered iron sticks frequently occurring in Pannonia in the 4 th century were not pin-beaters but manual distaffs used in spinning. Due to climate change the water level of Lake Balaton increased in the late imperial period. For the protection of lakeside settlements and plough-lands Emperor Galerius opened the Sió Canal, by which, however, he could only prevent the further rise of the water level. Th…

  • A második késő bronzkori aranykincs várvölgyről

    Robert Müller•ARTICLE•Archaeologiai Értesítő•2013•References: 1

A gold hoard was discovered in 2005 on the Late Bronze Age hilltop settlement at Várvölgy. The hoard contained gold bands for adorning textiles, spirals and a pair of lockrings with passementerie decoration. An earlier gold hoard found in 1926 (Hoard 1) likewise contained passementerie adornments, some of which had most likely been lockrings. Passementerie jewellery first appeared in the Carpathian Basin, whence they spread to the neighbouring re…

This study explored stress in relation to smoking and how non-smokers (never-smoked and ex-smokers) are 'resilient' to smoking in a population where there is a high prevalence of smoking (people diagnosed with depression). In-depth oral history interviews were conducted with 34 adult participants from metropolitan Adelaide, and who were medically diagnosed with depression. Participants were recruited according to their smoking status (currently s…

  • Remarques sur La liberté grecque

    Open Access•Robert Müller•ARTICLE•Dialogue•1986•References: 1
