  • Chinese exports and attitudes towards China

Open Access•Lu Ye, Yanhua Mao et al.•ARTICLE•Economic and Political Studies•2026

This study constructs an index of attitudes towards China using the GDELT Event Database from 1985 to 2020 and investigates the effect of Chinese exports on destination countries’ attitudes towards China. The empirical results show that the more China exports to a country, the more positive are that country’s attitudes towards China. The positive effect can be explained by a producer mechanism, as intermediate goods from China disproportionately …

  • Multidimensional Contextual Knowledge Inference Model for Sarcasm Detection

Open Access•Zhiqiang Zhang, Wei Xu et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2026

Sarcasm detection contributes to the understanding of the contrast between the literal meaning of an utterance and the true intention of the speaker, and is considered to be part of the challenge in sentiment analysis. Most models usually focus on prompted inference, ignoring the knowledge hallucination (i.e., the generation of factually incorrect or fabricated information) and inference mistakes generated by large models, which affects the detec…

  • Enhancing organizational health literacy through pediatric clinical training

Open Access•Sheng-nan Ge, Bing Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Organizational health literacy (OHL) remains a critical yet underexplored dimension of health equity, particularly at the interface between clinical training and patient care. This article proposes a conceptual reframing of the Mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini-CEX) as an OHL-oriented formative assessment tool within case-based learning for pediatric pneumonia. The OHL-Mini-CEX model integrates three assessment domains—teach-back evaluation…

  • Green finance policy, corporate green transformation, and patient capital

Open Access•Yichong Lei, Bing Li et al.•ARTICLE•China Economic Journal•2026

This paper examines whether China’s 2017 green finance reform and innovation pilot zones policy shifts long-horizon institutional ownership in heavy-polluting firms. Using Chinese A-share listed heavy polluters from 2011 to 2023, we employ a DID design and find that the pilot zones policy significantly increases long-term institutional ownership, robust across sensitivity checks. Mechanism analysis shows the effect works through rising environmen…

  • How counterfactual thinking and gamification influence green tourism consumption intention

Yibo Xie, Wenbin Ma et al.•ARTICLE•Current Issues in Tourism•2026

While green consumption as an effective means to support sustainable development has permeated our daily lives, people frequently fail to translate this awareness into practical action. This paper introduces role-playing gamification design games in tourism environments to explore how thinking counterfactually about environmentally friendly behaviour can enhance one’s green tourism consumption intention. We designed the experimental context of th…

  • Trait depression and emotional experiences in Chinese junior high school students

Open Access•Youming Song, Zimeng Wang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2026

While trait depression has consistently been identified as a high-risk factor for clinical depression in numerous studies, its relationship with emotional experiences—core indicators of clinical depression—remains unclear, particularly among adolescents, a group with a high prevalence of depressive symptoms. Drawing upon the top-down model of personality, coping, and emotion, as well as theoretical models of emotion dysregulation in depression, t…

This longitudinal study used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), including 13,928 Chinese participants aged 45 ye…

  • Beyond trauma

    Open Access•Bo Li, Bing Li et al.•ARTICLE•Death Studies•2026•References: 3

Encounters with patient death, often seen as traumatic for health professionals, may also drive post-traumatic growth and systemic improvement. This study explores how such experiences transform community health professionals (CHPs) in China. Employing a constructivist grounded theory approach, we conducted a year of non-participant observation and 23 semi-structured interviews with CHPs in Shenzhen. Our analysis produced a psychological-professi…

Amid ongoing debate and limited empirical evidence regarding resource gain and loss spirals in conservation of resources (COR) and job demands–resources (JD‐R) theories, this study examines how resource losses and gains shape emotional well‐being trajectories over time, focusing on their momentum and magnitude. Drawing on experience sampling data from two longitudinal studies, we find compelling evidence for both gain and loss spirals with moment…

  • Special Economic Zone and Local Economic Performance in China

Open Access•Zaichao Du, Liang Ge et al.•ARTICLE•World Economy•2025

Using China's 2006 national strategy on special economic zone (SEZ) in Tianjin, we quantitatively evaluate the effects of SEZ on local economic performance in China. Due to the fact that Tianjin is the only municipality affected by this policy, we adopt a new and simple‐to‐implement policy evaluation method. The method exploits the economic dependence among different provinces in China and constructs the counterfactual economic growth of Tianjin …
