  • Public health intelligence-ready blueprint for strengthening community resilience: A multi-stakeholder qualitative study in tertiary Chinese hospitals

Open Access•Yang Han, Sini Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Introduction: Hospitals must manage complex lifecycles of equipment, consumables, and infrastructure, yet fragmented legacy systems create silos, inefficiencies, and compliance risks that can heighten organizational vulnerability and weaken hospitals' role as critical infrastructures for community resilience. Methods: We conducted semi-structured interviews with 16 stakeholders across seven tertiary hospitals in China (administrators; logistics/p…

  • Irreversible Effects of Affiliation With Delinquent Peers on Cyberbullying Perpetration Among Adolescents in Hong Kong: Moderating Effect of Student–Teacher Relationships

    Open Access•Yang Han, Ji-Kang Chen•ARTICLE•Behavioral Sciences & the Law•2026

Adolescent affiliation with delinquent peers can lead to offline delinquent behaviors; however, less is known about its effect on online delinquent behaviors, particularly cyberbullying perpetration. Furthermore, it is unclear whether the delinquent peer effect on cyberbullying perpetration can be reversed by reducing affiliation with delinquent peers. Using novel asymmetric fixed‐effects regression with two‐wave follow‐up data from Hong Kong ( N…

  • Believing the Power of Physical Appearance: How Perceived Economic Inequality Affects Female Self‐Objectification and Job Preference

Open Access•Feng Yang, 風間 一洋 et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Social…•2026•References: 79

Five studies ( N = 1061) were conducted to examine the effect of perceived economic inequality (PEI) on female self‐objectification and its downstream consequences. In Studies 1 and 2, we found that PEI increased female self‐objectification, with perceived competition mediating this relationship. In Study 3, we found that PEI increased participants’ preference for appearance‐focused jobs, and self‐objectification mediated this effect. In Studies …

  • Normalization or creation? A corpus-based study of normalization in the Chinese translation of English children’s literature

Open Access•Yang Han, Han Yang•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2025

Based on the English-Chinese Parallel Corpus of Children’s Literature and the Corpus of Chinese Children’s Literature, this study investigates the feature of normalization in the Chinese translation of English children’s literature. The study analyzes both macro and micro levels of language features…

  • ST2SNet: Spatial–Temporal Two-Layer Synchronous Network for Traffic Flow Prediction

Open Access•Wenzhen Jia, Kai Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2025

As a crucial component of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), accurate traffic flow prediction has attracted considerable attention. Numerous popular models, such as recurrent neural networks (RNN) and graph convolution networks (GCN), have been extensively applied to this task. However, due to the constraints of the topology of urban road network and the law of dynamic change with time, the single-layer network model cannot capture the dyn…

  • They shouldn’t be richer than me: How visual wealth exposure on social media increases relative deprivation

Open Access•Xiumei Yan, Yu Fu et al.•ARTICLE•Cyberpsychology Journal of…•2025

Previous research suggests there is a close link between social media use and individuals’ relative deprivation, but it remains unclear which specific activities on social media can increase individuals’ relative deprivation. Given that, three studies were conducted to examine how visual wealth exposure, a common phenomenon on social media, increased individuals’ relative deprivation, and the subsequent downstream consequences. By conducting an o…

  • Banal modernity: A logic of hierarchization in International Relations

    Open Access•Yang Han•ARTICLE•European Journal of International…•2025•References: 88

What kind of everyday expectations arise from an aspiration for modernity, and how do they inform hierarchy-building in International Relations (IR)? This article proposes a theory of banal modernity as a logic of hierarchization in IR. It argues that actors of IR often hierarchize reality by evaluating their relative status against the imaginaries of modernity in the mundane and quotidian aspects of everyday life. Moreover, varied hierarchizatio…

  • Interpretable AI-driven causal inference to uncover the time-varying effects of PM2.5 and public health interventions on Covid-19 infection rates

    Open Access•Yang Han, Jacqueline C K Lam et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2024

Although COVID-19 appears to be better controlled since its initial outbreak in 2020, it continues to threaten citizens in different communities due to the unpredictability of new strains. The global viral pandemic has resulted in over 700 million infections and 7 million deaths worldwide, with 22 million cases occurring in the United Kingdom (UK). Emerging evidence has suggested that outdoor PM 2.5 pollutants can significantly contribute to COVI…

  • Is Chinese IR Scholarship White? A Non-Dichotomous Critique of ‘The International as Singular, Enlightened and Sanitised’

    Open Access•Yang Han•ARTICLE•Millennium Journal of International…•2024•Cited by: 1

Most Western IR theories – mainstream and critical alike – share an implicit Western-centric belief of the constitution and drivers for global development (towards modernity), whereas an emerging trend of literature criticizes such an assumption as epistemic whiteness. Examining global IR knowledge production beyond the Euro-American academia, this article proposes a non-dichotomous framework of critique. It centres around three interrelated conc…

  • From brain to worksite: The role of fNirs in cognitive studies and worker safety

Open Access•Yang Han, Zhi Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Effective hazard recognition and decision-making are crucial factors in ensuring workplace safety in the construction industry. Workers’ cognition closely relates to that hazard-handling behavior. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a neurotechique tool that can evaluate the concentration vibration of oxygenated hemoglobin [ H b O 2 ] and deoxygenated hemoglobin [ H b R ] to reflect the cognition process. It is essential to monitor w…

To bridge this gap, this study explores doctors' participation in DMIC services and its effects on their online perform…

  • Will Using Social Media Benefit or Harm Users' Self-Esteem? It Depends on Perceived Relational-Closeness

    Open Access•Yang Han, Han Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Social Media + Society•2023•References: 56

Prior research concerning social media use and self-esteem showed inconsistent findings. In the current research, two studies were conducted to examine the moderating role of perceived relational-closeness between social media use and self-esteem, and the underlying mediating mechanisms. In Study 1 (a quasi-experimental study), by assigning participants to the weak (reporting TikTok use intensity) or strong (reporting WeChat use intensity) relati…

Open Access•Lichun Jiang, Huazhe Jiao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

The underground sedimentary bauxite ore body in Shanxi province has a shallow burial depth; the valley terrain caused stress concentration on a pillar which affected the pillar’s safety and goaf stability. This paper proposed a pillar safety coefficient calculation method affected by the goaf structural parameters and the valley terrain, which was based on a pillar mechanics analysis under the valley terrain. The results show that the overlying v…
